About the error of the UIR plugin, i've received a email about this before, this has to do with Girder waking up before the comport. I had been working on a fix but this proved somewhat difficult. I fixed it for that case back then but i have to look up what it was. Send me an email i'll see if i can help you.

This APM/ACPI should be handled by the plugin, nothing really that can be done from outside, or someone would want to write an APM plugin,.. which is _very_ easy :-) this is your chance to become a plugindevelopers guys!!

I'm not sure I can help much...But one thing to make sure of is that in your computer bios, you have WAKE from COM Port enabled. Usually, it is set to WAKE for LAN only. This would be under the power managment part of your BIOS. Without this being on, the computer won't respond to the serial port and come back from power saving modes. This setting also supercedes Windows Power management.

I am using Girder 3.0.22 with windows 2000 (service pack 2), with the UIR receiver.
The motherboard I am using is quite new (Asus CUV4X) and ACPI is fully supported by the BIOS.

When recovering from Hibernate or Suspend mode, I get many times the "Can not open com port" error message and the input device is disabled. After I re-enable the device manually, it is working again.

Is it possible on some way to either
1) avoid this error
2) Automatically recover from this error, by making Girder detecting it and re-enabling automatically the input device.

I also can not wakeup the computer with the UIR.

Does someone has some experience with this?
Thank you

Thank's a lot for your answers

1) Recover from suspend mode with UIR
There are 2 wakup options in the power management setction of my BIOS:
1.a) Wakup on LAN / PCI modem
1.b) Wakup on external modem
I tried to enable the option b, but it seems that the computer is waiting for some special signal for waking up (ring indication, if I understand correctly the description in the manual) and is not waking up on any activity on the serial port.
I guess the UIR is just sending the received command to the computer (for instance "play") but not the required wakup signal, and therefore do not wakup the computer.

Can you wakeup your computer from the suspend mode with the UIR?

2) Comport error after suspend/hibernate recovery
As I do not know your email address, Ron, I will contact you through "private message" option, is this OK

Thank's a lot
Gerd

I'm using the TV2000 plugin and get a similar problem. After returning from Hibernate, the remote only sends one code (can't remember what it is at the moment), and requires the plugin deactivated/reactivated to regain proper functionailty.

Does the ACPI plugin detect recovering from hibernate/standby if so where can I get it. I can seem to find it.
