I'll try.

What do you mean by "a trigger"? Do you mean a Girder event string? Do you mean a terminator character?

Sorry for all the questions. I just need a bit more information.

Thanks.

I expected, in var-length string mode, that girder would receive a string only when the termination char is send; or the specified number of char's is received; or a timeout occurs..
I would also expect it to work the way you describe.

For var-length, the event string should be presented to Girder after a terminator or (if enabled) a timeout.

For fixed length, the event string should be presented to Girder after the right number of characters or (if enabled) a timeout.

Could you export your device information, zip it and send me the file attached to an e-mail?

The export procedure should be in the readme file but just in case:
Start Girder; choose File/settings/hardware plugins/generic serial support/settings. Choose the device from the dropdown box and press export. Type in a filename (or use the one provided) and press save. This shoud build an .ini file that you can zip and send to me.

To send me an e-mail, press the mail button at the bottom of this post. Thanks.

I may have found the culprit. I have to test the fix a bit more. I probably won't have something to send out before the weekend.

It has been a couple of weeks, sorry. I'll have this out to some testers as soon as I can. I want to verify it before releasing it to the general population.

Thanks.

I want to connect two PC's using a modem on rs232 using the serial plugin...
For some reason or other, I'm not able to use more than one char as a trigger...
regardless of the settings in the serial plugin...

Who can help me ?

thanks for the rappid reply...

I mean a girder event string;
it seems that each char I send from the remote PC is received by girder as a separate event; I expected, in var-length string mode, that girder would receive a string only when the termination char is send; or the specified number of char's is received; or a timeout occurs..

hope this is enough info
