Use the IR port of my deskjet printer ?

I was wondering if there's any chance that my pc can use the IR port on my HP Deskjet 990Cxi to be controlled. Or is the IR function seperate from the normal printing functions ?
Do there exist such programs ?

That is an IRDA port. I don't know if the information on that port can be seen by the PC (highly doubtful) but that port will NOT detect consumer IR (a normal remote control). Sorry. :(
