I've just made an UIRT2a. I'm using Girder - v3.2.6b, plugin - v3.2, PIC - v1.8

It programmed first time. All that happens in the test program is that I get a send and rec info then after say 30secs a load of rec info spews across and then stops. This happens even when I'm not using any remotes.

What I have is a PC using XP and a serial extension cable with the UIRT2a kit hanging off that. Where the receiver and transmitters should be, I have connected wires to a 9pin serial, in which I have plugged an old mouse cable. On the end of there is the receiver and transmitters.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I moved the transmitters and receiver on to the mainboard and everything works fine. So it's the old mouse cable that is the problem.

Has anybody got ideas on what the best type of cable to use to extend the T/R from the mainboard?

A shielded cable might help. (Connect the shielding to ground.) Most serial extension cables have that.

If it still fails, you could try CAT5. (Make sure to connect one of each twisted wire to ground.) I never tried that, but maybe it helps.
