Com Port Error When Starting Girder

When girder tries to open, I get the error "Can not open
device with name Com1". Any ideas?

I have the X10 remote plugged into COM1. The mouse buttons work fine, but when girder initalizes, I get the above error message. The keyboard instructions work, and I can move the pointer around just fine.

only one program/driver can have access to the X10 device at a time. It sounds to me that you have other drivers installed (you say the buttons work). So either use Girder and uninstall the X10 drivers or use the X10 drivers as they are currently.

The X-10 software was never installed. I only put on the girder software.

Maybe someone can step in that has this hardware. I'm out of options.

Has your OS detected the device and installed an OS level driver for it? What version of Windows are you using? ('95, XP, ???)
