View Full Version : State Problems

I've read the guide on states, but I must be missing something.

I've set up a button on my remote to toggle the master windows volume mute. I would have assumed by the name "Volume Mute Toggle" that it would have, built in, the ability to actually toggle the mute, but that's okay.

However, when I try to adjust the states, it gets confusing. I changed the state count to 2, and now when I press the mute button, it becomes state 2, and the volume is muted. However, when I press the button again, Girder enters state 2 again. Then if I press it a third time, it goes back to state 1. What's going on? I'd rather not have to press the button three times to alternate between 2 states. I know I'll just get confused :)

What's the deal?

Mute toggle works as mute toggle for me.

Make sure that you actually selected the 'mute' channel and set the step size to 0.

These are the settings I have for my mute toggle:
-in the O.S. action tab I have "Volume Mute Toggle" selected
-after hitting the "Volume" button, I selected Master Volume>Mastercontrols>Master Mute
-in "Step Size" I have 0

That's all. I would think that would work. What it does is, if the volume is unmuted, I press the button and it mutes it. If I press the button again, it appears to try to mute it again. It never unmutes.

You should not need to use state settings at all.
Make sure that state count=1 and begin state=1 (default). These simply affect whether the command gets executed or not.

No no. I asked about this in another thread, and the function simply wasn't working for me, and this workaround was the only thing that made it work.

Matt is right, you do NOT need states for this command.

And I'm telling you that on my computer, for some reason, I do. I told you, I set up the codes normally, just like it should be, and it did NOT work. If it did, then technically the way I'm doing it shouldn't work, as the changing state would cause the mute toggle to either stay muted or unmuted on every button press. Get what I'm saying?

I'm not saying it's the program. It's probably some weird thing with my computer, but I can tell you that it flat out does not work otherwise. I followed every step of your instructions page, and mine is set up just the same way. No dice.
