I have this weird problem. If any of my media players are turned on then girder works fine. Other than that I just see girder receiving the IR command(the icon at status bar flashes) but it doesnt do anything.
It's my new machine .. I just bought a motherboard, cpu and ram. So I just took the old GML file from my old machine. Is it some settings in my bios or something ?

Which IR receiver/plugin are you using?
Try loading the logger plugin and see if the event strings are different when you have one of the media players loaded.

I am using Igor's plugin. I have a packard bell's remote.

That plugin is dependant on the CPU speed. Your new machine (I assume it is faster than the old machine) may not generate the old codes once you get the plugin stable. To get the plugin stable (generating the same events every time) you probably need to boost the plugin priority in the settings.

Now the only real test is if the media players stutter when you press a button on your remote. ;)
