Hi,

because I want to control my PC via remote control I discovered the girder program...well, it is really a complex program, but I guess it can be figured out..

But now my problem: I use a receiver at the com-port which had worked with the irassistant under Win98 and a normal remote control taken from my CD-Player. And when I press a button on my remote control the girder symbol in the task bar reacts...and I can also assign a button to a special function, e.g. when I use the zoomplayer template I can assign a button to one function, and it works perfectly...

Ok, but now the problem: not only that button but every button on the remote control triggers the event...how can I assign special keys to events - to use the example of irassistant, there was the possibility to learn the remote control keys before assigning them to a special event...

Well, I hope that my problem is clear, I need a way to tell girder to discriminate the different buttons on my remote control...

Any suggstions...I definitely would like to use this great program...

Welcome to Girder, lets see if we can figure this out.

First thing to check is the text that appears in the statusbar when you press a button. This should be different for each button on the remote. ( This text is the so called event string ).

Well, when I press a button on the remote different numbers scroll through, but they seem to be the same (unfortunately too fast to see)...when I learn an eventstring, the numbers shown under the comment field seem to be the same: it says "0-2" for every key I use....

BTW: Do I have to use WinLirc to learn the buttons first?

You might want to look at the igor plugin, I think that can replace the winlirc driver completely. But someone else has to step in since I know relativly little about these devices.

Well, that plugin will not work...I guess a special driver for my remote is missing, with Irassistant this driver was called "general burst driver". I will continue trying..

Thanx for your help,
N.
