..But I have a Few Questions/Concerns.

I have read all the UIRT related material I could find from the Girder site and the UIRT2 Linked pages, But Quite a bit still remains unclear to me.

I want to use the UIRT2 to Controll Various Devices from my PC, and to Controll my PC Using Various Devices (Duh). I want to Know what the Issues are with having the IR Transmiters/recievers Positioned as they are, ither in front or in back of the PC, and Whether they will be able to Transmit the Signals to my Reciever, TV, VCR...

Also, With the UIRT2b, I was wondering that I saw the Headphone jacks are used to connect IR Transmitters/recievers. Where could I get a Device that connects to those, and how far from the PC could it be Positioned?

Additionally I was wondering why the COM port has to Stick out of the back of the Syxtem like that, as I have a COM lead inside my tower that I would like to use.

As well, I heard somewhere about an Optional 56K Reciever, but I cant seem to find it for sale with a Complete unit anywhere.

Furthermore, I read that there are 4 Ports on the Device, but looking at the Pictures I was unable to Locate them anywhere.

Not to mention that Im completely clueless about how to hook the thing up and start using it, but Ill considder that later :P

I know this sounds like alot of Skepticism or such S***, but I really am interrested in this Device. Please Clue me in or answer some Questions. t'anx

The emitters and receiver are wired on the B version en can be positioned where you want them. The parts can be found at electronic parts distributors, you just have to wire them with the cable (lenght and color) you want, lenght can be up to 10 meters depending on the environment. (these parts are all included in the kits and assembled units)

All "normal" PC's have the comm ports "sticking out of the back", that's why.....

Some have used a 56K receiver on the UIRT2 (see threads in this forum) but indeed I don't offer these.

There are 4 GPIO (General Purpose IO, not IR) ports available (one is used for WOL), there are pads on the PCB. Check my website on how to connect.

t'anx, but I found the USB-UIRT (With the 56K Option) and am now just wondering HTF to get one without a Bank account or Credit card :D

I have been using an IGOR Device until now, but It *really* slows down when I get a gæm going or am watching a DVD, so I wanted to upgrade to a hardware decoder :) I think I will as soon as I can figure out fow to get one :D
