I have a Sony RM-V12 Univeral Remote and would like it to work with my Creative Infra Reciever. Girder works fine with the creative remote but not my Sony. I am guessing that the frequencies are different but where can I find out at what frequency both the Creative Infra and Sony UIR are at. Girder shows no response when pushing buttons on the Sony UIR. Any Ideas?
Thanx. :-?

Sorry Al, this won't work. You'll need to get some kind of universal receiver. For info on these see the girder links page.

To me, having tried to use a couple of Sony remote controls with the creative LiveDrive IR receiver, it would seem that Sony have made sure that their remote controls have been designed for use only with their products.
I am however happily using the remote that came with my old CD player manufactured by Sansui.

Yes, this would be a start, but keep in mind, that these kind of simple receivers have some drawbacks and don't work reliable under all conditions.

Try reprogramming the remote with Toshiba codes for VCRs, Cable boxes and Receivers. I found that Toshiba codes and a few others worked with the creative receiver and my Jensen remote.

The Creative Infra receiver will respond to Akai VCR codes set on my Sony Universal RM-V301 and should on most Universal remotes I would think.

After experimenting, I realised that a LIRC
(in fact: http://www.lird.org ) will be as reliable as a StreamZap ( http://www.streamzap ) if you use the IgrPlug plugin.
the main drawback is CPU usage... a UIRT/2 would spare you lot of CPU cycles, as its a microcontroller and not your PC that does reception of the signal - you get decoded IR to your PC.
good luck in your building :D

I could try that too, but I would have to program the microcontroller chip, and would need a PCB. It might get really hard.
