i am using the tcp/ip plugin with great success but have run into a challenge. i am using it to control dScaler with an ipaq handheld running a custom app. i would like to be able to send dScaler a value such as to tell it to go to a contrast level of 82. the only way i know to do this is to have 255 girder commands and learn the ip message for each. not very practical. would there be a way to extend the ip plugin so that i could specify the first part of a delimited ip string and have it capture the second part to a register?

oh, i see. what do you think of the original idea? is it doable? could your plugin be made to parse an incoming string and use the part before the delimiter as the command and the part after the delimiter as a parameter that gets put into a register?

Why don't you send an email to the author of the TCP/IP plugin?

I'm only the author if you're using mine and not the stock one that came with Girder.
I am currently working on the ability to set and get registers. I'll post a message when it's ready; or you can send me an email so I have your address, and I can send you a message directly.

I am currently working on enabling this functionality:
Send a '$n' or '%n' and the TCP/IP server will return the current value of numeric register [n] or string register [n] respectively.
Also, send a '$n=x' or '%n="string"' to set the value of numeric register [n] or string register [n] respectively.
Then, in a subsequent release, enable the ability to evaluate expressions like $n++ or %n.="append string", and so on...

Not sure; day or so. Send me an email so I have your address, and I will email you when it's ready to test.

Whoa that's cool. I too am trying to figure out how to push commands to Girder through Flash or through a web server that way my IPAQ can just run a browser or flash app to it. Flash would be interesting since I could create a really awesome interface that could reconfigure and redraw with sounds and animation etc. and then push the commands to Girder.
