Girder works sometimes.. and sometimes it doesnt

I have a DCD and I use de Igor Plug in.I dont now what happens, sometimes it recieves and sometimes it doesnt. I tried to send a signal with the winamp3 plugin. When Girder works, it receives each 1 second (as it is set) but when it doesnt work, I cant send code from the remote neither the winamp3 plugin.

Not sure if it is applicable but check http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1838&highlight=igor. this solved one of my problems.

Is there light going to your IGOR receiver?

I know my IGOR reads the IR from the suns and randomly block the IR from my remote, and also randomly reads commands from the sun.

(I know it sounds cool to have a computer commanded by the sun, but I added a sheet of paper in front of my receiver as a filter and all works fine now)

I realized that the problem is not the receiver or GIrder or Igor. Is my computer (or my com port).
I'll try to format the HD and see if it is a software problem.

I finally formated the hard disk, and installed windows XP. I installed girder and it seems to work fine. But today, suddenly, happened the same thing: Girder wasn't receiving th signal of my remote, and finally it stoped working at all.
The funny thing is that I dont know how, WinLirc doesnt work either. I dont know if it was Igor plugin or Girder, but now I cant use my DCD receiver.

How long cable do you have? Other interfernce in the system?

Check the settings for the com-port and test different settings in the Igor plugin.

There is no error in your receiver? A glitch? Built it yourself?
Has it ever worked correctly for a longer period?


There exitsts different design, that are more or less table and more or less sensitive to interference. I have not tested different designs since I was lucy and the first I bulit works perfectly.

I made the receiver, but it worked for a long period but using uICE, not girder. I tried to change the port IRQ number and it doesnt work either.
I am pretty sure that the problem is in girder, or in igor plugin..

cheba I have been using a DCD device for more then a year with the girder/IGOR plugin configuration and I can tell you it never failed.

If it don't work with the LIRC software neither, maybe, just maybe, it is the device that now failed?

recheck all component and soldering spots. maybe something broke.
