Maybe the joystick plugin?

I am using my Logitech Cordless Wingman for exactly that reason.
The joystick plugin will work, but it has some limitations. You can use up to 128 buttons (more than enough) but you can only use one joystick and no D-Pad. There is no auto-repeat, the plugin triggers when you press and then again when you let go. Same with the joystick, it triggers when you move one direction and then again when you recenter it. Its digital only (on/off) so you can't read the exact position of the joystick.
Your other option is to use the packaged software to translate the commands to the keyboard, and then have girder pick up the keyboard commands. This will give you use of the other joystick and the D-Pad, but it will still be digital only. Also, I haven't tried this method so I do not know if it will work.
