View Full Version : Winamp hidden and resume from standby

hello users,
i am sure you have answers to my questions. These are:
1) when Winamp is hidden, Girder responds it can't find the target window, which is correct, because the Winamp-icon is only visible in the
systray. How can i target Winamp (2.74) when it's only visible in the sytray?
2) one of the buttons i have on my remote (X-10 from Marmitek, PC Control) i have configured it to put my compu in a (polite-)standby, but when it's in standby, i can't get it out of standby with my remote! Anyone got a clue how to deal with this?
3) sometimes, my WAVE-volume jumps to a higher point, i know it has something to do with Winamp-controlling, but how and what...?
thanks in advance!
P.S.: i have Girder 3.2.9

2. I don't think your remote supports this.

what do you mean by not supporting it? i have a very common remote and receiver, maybe it has more to do with my motherboard or so?
and by the way, it seems my screen has moved to the left, i haven't noticed before i used Girder...
hoping you have an answer to my (other) questions

1. In the target selector window in Girder, check the box that says "Match invisible Tasks". It should then be able to track Winamp even when it is minimized.
2. When you are in standby, windows and its programs are suspended, so Girder is unable to bring you out of standby. The only way a remote can resume is if you can set up your BIOS to resume from the port that the receiver is connected to.
3. No clue.

Your IR receiver must be able to wake your computer. I don't think the X10 device does this.

there's the "wake on lan" feature.... so your mobo would probably have to support wake on USB or something like that... or have USB activity be able to take your computer out of standby... look in your BIOS for some such option. if not, you're out of luck.

it have thought about that. my MM keyboard is connected via USB, so i think that the Wake Up via USB isn't a problem.
but say, if it works, which command do you use to wake up your PC, just any button or a particular one?
and has anyone had the same experience with de WAVE-volume?

hmm... possibly because the remote commands are being sent to girder.. wehreas the OS knows to accept any event from the keyboard as a "wake up" function, i personally HATE sleep/standby modes.... but i might work on trying to find a fix for this.
