On other similar forums, you can subscribe to a particular thread so that you can go back to it later. Is there any similar facility in this forum?

Below the "New topic" and "Post reply" buttons you'll find a link called
"Watch this topic for replies"
use that.

OK, I've done that. Now presumably when there's a reply I'll see some sort of notification. But how do I find a particular thread in which there's no activity?

The search button at the top of the page ?

But I'd like to be able to bookmark precisely to avoid a sometimes laborious search to find that one very helpful thread.

why don't you just bookmark it in your browser?

Yes, bookmarking in the browser is a possibility. For me the problem is that I go to the forum from at least four different computers, so if something is bookmarked on one PC, it won't be bookmarked on another.
I appreciate the suggestions, though. It's not a huge problem, of course, but having a thread bookmarking facility would perhaps avoid some questions being repeated just because a previously read thread can't be found.
