Hi,
I'm using 3.0.20 with the Evation IrMan. I have the Evation IrServer disabled. I'm using Windows ME.
I have two problems that may or may not be related.
Problem (1): When I try to Enable the UIR/Irman, I get a "Cannot read 1st char" error message. The only way I can get rid of this error message is to check "Skip UIR Init Check".
Problem (2): When I try to learn codes from a variety of remotes (Panasonic DVD, Pronto, Sony), nothing is ever learned. The message window states "Waiting for IR Code", but I never get a confirmation message that the code was learned.
I know my IrMan is working, since if I use the Evation IrServer software to learn codes, it works perfectly. (Note that I did try using Girder both with the IrServer running and with it not running ... same results)
I notice from the old eGroup/Yahoo archives that a couple of others were having the same problems a couple of months ago. I don't know if those problems were ever resolved, but my problem sounds similar.
I suspect problem (1) and problem (2) are related.
I hope I haven't missed anything obvious. TIA for your help.
