View Full Version : Girder Standby Toggle problem

I am using a keyboard to control Girder, redefining the numeric pad. I want to be able to use one of the keys to toggle girder into standby so that I can also use the keys normally. I also want the scroll lock LED to light when Girder is enabled.

Both of these functions work OK individually as separate commands.

If I combine them in a multigroup it doesn't work! Girder goes into standby, and the LED changes state, but pressing the triggering button again does not bring Girder out of standby.

If I have 2 separate commands, the commands are executed alternately on each trigger.

I assume that the Girder Standby Toggle function will not work within a multigroup, so how else can I combine the 2 commands?

Cheers

I don't think that you'll be able to get Girder out of stand-by once you've forced it to enter stand-by, since once Girder is not listening to input devices, you can't really have a command triggered off an event in Girder to relisten to those input devices (since it would have to be listening to get this command, but since it isn't listening, . . . , you get the idea!).

What you might want to do is use another program, like hot keyboard (www.hot-keyboard.com), which toggles the F9 input device enabled/disabled functionality in Girder by a desired keypress. You can then use Girder for everything else.

Girder "listens" for the standby key OK when in standby, but, obviously, not for any others. The standby toggle works OK when it is assigned to a single keystroke, but not when that same keystroke is defined as the trigger for a multigroup containing the standby command.

I had a look at hot-keyboard, but I don't feel $30 is a price worth paying for the limited use I would get from it.

I found a workaround for my problem using "disable groups" and states. The only thing I cannot do is unblock the keys I have blocked, but I can live with that, since the keys I am using for Girder are all on the numberpad.

BTW, I have now registered.

Glad you got it worked out! I use the free/lite version of Hot Keyboard, which is why I recommended it here.

I didn't realise there was a free version. I'll have another look.
