I hope, I'm not the first girder user with this problem and somebody solved it already: Is there a way to get the filename of the current playing file in PowerDVD? DVDSpy obviously isn't helpful in this case. Any other ideas?

It's true that DVDSpy doesn't know about files because it just displays what's on the OSD or the "remote" skin.
However, when playing a file, isn't the filename the title of the video window? Even when full screen. So, look for a window in the POWERDVD executable whose class is CyberLink Video Window Class and get its title. If the title is the initial default, then assume it is playing a DVD and not a file.
