The MFC error means that you have to download the newest version of the microsoft foundation classes. They should be somewhere on the Microsoft site.

As for the .cde file Girder doesn't handle the recognition the slinke software does, and that needs this .cde file.

kidd,

Welcome to the Girder Forum. Yes, you'll need to go to Settings -> Hardware Tab -> and make sure the SLinkE Driver checkbox is checked. Next, click the Settings button on the Hardware tab.

Once in SLinkE Driver settings, click the Add button, enter a SLinkE device name for Girder to use and press the OK button. Next, make sure the device name is selected in the Name dropdown list--IIRC, it ISN'T by default.

Next, click the Browse button to navigate to the device file (.CDE) that you want to associate with the Girder SLinkE device name you just entered.

After that, make sure you select the appropriate IR Port check boxes. Note that these are for IR receive AND IR transmit.

Click OK to close the SLinkE configuration dialog box.

Next select Settings -> Action Plugins and make sure you have the SLinkE Driver checkbox checked off.

OK your way out of the settings dialog box and press the <F9> key to enable the Slinke plugin. You're good to go when you have a green "LED" in the lower right corner of the Girder window (in the status bar). If the LED is blue, press <F9> once more.

Now when you teach Girder an IR code via the Slinke, you'll see the name od the SLinkE device you assigned to Girder along with any text you might have appended to the IR code entry in your CDE file.

Good luck -- Steve

Trying to get SLINK-E working with Girder to use a remote to control a windows application. Add Device error messages on girder boot.

Getting: "Error SLINK Add Device" on boot and "Error SLINK Del Device" on close.

Also - I assume that I need to point to a .CDE file somewhere in the Girder application. Is that under settings ?

Help !

Okay, I thought I was decent at figuring out programs, but Girder's got me spinning!

I've got a Slink-e and am hoping to use Girder to for IR->X10 control (I know I'll still need to get an X10 interface).

Couple questions:

1) What is a .CDE file and why do I need to specify one? I had guessed Girder would capture IR codes that I could then associate with an X10 action.

2) When I try to use the latest release of the Slink-e driver ( 0.92f dbg ), I get the following error upon launch:

"The dynamic link library MFC42D.DLL could not be found..."

I'm running the 3.0.24pre3 Girder. Is there something else I need? Slink-e v.92 doesn't give this error.

Thanks for any advance.
