Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this but I wondered if anyone using the Marmitek or other X10 based remote has had this problem or do I have a faulty remote.

What seems to happen is that when I put brand new batteries in, everything works just fine, but after only about two days use (in the evenings not non stop) all of the buttons stop working apart from the mouse pad and buttons.

The light on the remote comes on when they're pressed but the receiver gets nothing. All the buttons still work fine in the IR mode for the TV.

I can't believe that the battery life for this item should be that little.

Any help??

Cheers

Hi,

the batteries in my Marmitek last for ~3months. After 2 months the RF reach is decreasing noticeable. And your're right: The IR mode still works good.
Use is about two hours of heavy use per day.

To something different. Do you have the problem I described in this thread (http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5956&highlight=)?

If not, what driver are you using? How set you things up?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I think I must have a dodgy handset because nearly all the buttons stop working after only a few hours of use. I think I'll be getting a replacement.

On the other issue: Yes I'm afraid I get the exact same problem. I have read the other thread before, but I've not gone any further trying to solve it.

I was looking at the X10 controler from here (http://www.hometheatercomputer.net/index.html) and wondering if that had the same problems. I was about to order one but they've suspennded orders for this month. I wondered if the driver for this remote would work with the Marmitek one we have.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Cheers
