View Full Version : Can't change Arrows from being Num (up arrow = Numpad 8)

Going nuts here trying to do something that I think should be basic.

Using older X10 serial remote in program MyTheatre, and all is setup well with Girder, with all keys redefined and working, except arrows.

I can redefine the arrow keys to anything except Up Down, Left and Right.
No problem making remote Up = Keyboard Home, enter, Z, or other keyboard keys.
This tells me that it is not the remote forcing a specific output only.

But if I make remote up special key UP, it always ends up NUM 8.
All other arrows keys end up NUM 2, Num 4 and Num 6.

It's as though Num lock is on, and the number pad arrows are what is being used, instead of the main keyboard arrows.

Have tried disabling NUM lock on in Bios too, but same thing.
Plugins used are Generic Serial Based IR Receiver and Keyboard (1.5.0.0), but the keyboard plugin doesn't seem to make any difference.

To confirm MyTheatre is not forcing something wierd, I can use keyboard, and then MyTheatre correctly shows the specific arrow I press (up arrow for example), and allows me to assign that as UP. It doesn't change it to NUM 8.

Thanks

Still can not figure this out.
Called a friend with Girder and he too saw the same problem.
His solution was to simpy assign another key instead of Up Arrow.
That would be fine, but the program I amd running will not work unless it sees Up, Down, Left and Right.

Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.
I have no clue how to use Girder, but somehow managed to have it learn remote, then assign what it learned to keys.

If I press up arrow on my keyboard, it shows a code like 48000000, and if I press up arrow on num pad it shows something like 48000000E. Perhaps there is a way to have arrow send a code instead of UP?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this will help but ...

Have you tried the "alternative proc" checkbox on the keyboard command?

I'll have to look into that.
