VersaPoint Infrared Mouse Pointer

I've used the RemotePoint Plus (through a serial port) from Interlink and, on that product, the IR receiver doesn't recognize anything but the remote that came in the package. I don't know if the same is true for the standard RemotePoint.

I have an Infrared VersaPoint Mouse Pointer that plugs into the mouse port (ps/2). Will the Infrared piece of the pointer work with Girder? If so, can I use any of the remotes I have for my TV, receiver or Satellite receiver? I have a Home Theater PC and I would like to be able to play DVD's with WinDVD and Shutdown computer when I click on the remote. I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you very much.
