I have the same problem with the ATI TV and the Packard Bell remote. I haven't been able to fix it and have since given up. I now use Window's WebTV for Windows ME.

Using IGOR's plugin. DIRECT!

I had the same problem, but I found out that if you point the remote directly at the reciever it works, but if you have a slight angle it may send different codes using Igor's Plugin set in DCD mode. If you want to use your remote for multiple programs, just make sure that you select the program that the commands will respond to. This will allow for one button to respond to several different programs. I have a PB remote that controls WinAMP, DScaler, PowerDVD, Mouse, and even can type using it.

It looks that there are many ways to use Packard Bell remotes with Girder. Mine is working through WinLIRC... but it's far from optimal. Anyone with a good and direct method?

IGOR's plugin? The file is corrupted...
Can Ron maybe fix that?

Valhalla1, it seems that you're missing WinLIRC to Girder plugin. Check it out!
It works fine for me, I was just looking how to get rid from the many extra systray icons now running.

err.. better idea, can Valhalla1 please email it to me?(thus leaving Ron's time for plasma research and Girder development, much better)

please email it to:
mikey@iamwaiting.com
Thanks.

first off, the link on this site to SFH 56 keeps downloading a corrupt zip file.
I found the file somewhere else but it could be an old version or something. anyway I have it installed and when I try to make commands to control the ati tv player, when I capture the IR codes, each time I press a button it gets a totally different hex codes. none of the commands I configure will work. any ideas ?

I am using igor's plugin.. I ended up getting the latest version from igor in an email attatchment, since I was unable to download it from his site.. the download was going at like 20 bytes/sec and would finally timeout every time.

anyway, I'll try this plugin when I get home. but any ideas why it gets a different code every time I push a button? I had the packard bell remote working like a champ using winLIRC and the winamp plugin, but I would like to control more than winamp with my remote, like ATI TV player and windows media player, and power dvd

well I got it to work by patching it in to winlirc.. but two systray icons and two programs running to control a damn remote sucks.

also, it REFUSES to work with ATI tv player. maybe because it uses a non windows standard interface. but winamp and powerdvd dont either and they work fine.

the commands work for ATI tv player when I right click on them and test them, but it wont capture any IR signal at all when ATI is active. its like ATI Tv is blocking something. WinLIRC shows raw codes going when I push buttons but the icons dont change colors when I push buttons when I have the tv software running. WTF ?

this is using the ATI tv exports on the download page.. maybe I'll start over and not use any exports

I also installed some ati MMC dll file I read about in another thread, and enabled the "sendkeys 1.5" software plugin in Girder.

still, when I open the ATI tv player on my windows XP machine, girder stops all functionality, and so does WinLIRC. maybe its an issue with ATI and winlirc ? when I push a button, the winlirc icon doesn't blink like usual, but if you go to "reconfigure" and "raw codes", there are codes streaming across when I am pushing buttons, but nothing works. when I close ATI TV player, both programs work fine.

i doubt the batteries are the prob, config winlirc and click "raw codes" and press buttons, you should see hex codes and stuff fly by, then u know the remote works

Valhalla1-

Any chance you could email the IGOR.DLL you have to: mikesc@microsoft.com ? I'd sure appreciate it as well since I get broken .dll whenever I d/l it. Many thanks!

That is EXACTLY what I am experiencing.. Tried Igor's plugin AND WinLIRC.. soon as ATI TV starts Girder etc stop working, as soon as it's closed, they work fine.

Has anyone found a fix for this?
Thanks!

More info on this problem:

I'm using the latest Igor plug-in (Dated 2/3), set to dcd, with priority=7 (advanced setting). Win2k, Duron 650, Via Chipset, 384M RAM.

I do sometimes see "random" codes if I hold the remote at an odd angle, but this seems to be reliable enough to not be a problem.

Things really get ugly when I try to use girder to control the HiPix application while it is playing a recorded program - the IR codes that are received are completely random and garbage - varying lenghts, no digits in common.

While the program is playing there is very little CPU time being used, but I suspect that the DMA & IRQ overhead can be pretty heavy. Is it possible that something is breaking down in the timing of the plug-in? If so, can it be fixed?

Thanks,
Jeff
