just posted this on my local sat site but wanted to put it here in the event someone might be able to use it.

i'm going to use this thread as my own little guide of what i did that worked with my ss2 remote girder, mt and myepg.

to date i had been able to set the launch of mt with the remote and assigne to the up and down arrows the up scroll and down scroll features of my mouse. this enabled me to increase and decrease the volume in mytheatre (yes i know not the most efficient use of the buttons but i'm lerning) and also to use the up down arrows in the myepg window after i had opened it and selected by non remote means.

but the goal was to get myepg to be fully automated.

i think the stars were properly aligned or something as i have programmed the remote through girder to pull up and close the myepg whoo hoo. Here's what i did

it may sound silly but i didn't want to miss anything. first things first. i made sure i could open up myepg with the mouse click option. that worked. then i made sure i could open it with the keyboard shortcut option ie G (default i believe) initially that didn't work, so i went into my epg and made sure i had keyboard selected in the options and made sure that g was selected as the open command. closed my epg and closed mytheatre. opened it up again and voila the keyboard shortcut was working so i could press g to my hearts delight. from there it was on to girder. i selected add command, called it open myepg and had girder learn my menu button on my ss2 remote. then i went to the keyboard command option in girder and assigned the letter g, leaving all the alt, shift, and control options empty but keeping the Alternative Proc checked. clicked apply. but no good, wouldn't read the command, so i hit the targetting option and moved the crosshairs over the area of mytheatre where the video is being displayed and selected it. On the bottum right hand side of the targeting window a bunch of location points appeared next to name, executable and class name... then i hit find and under the find option another group of lines appeared. i hit apply and then ok and then to my complete surprise the epg opened

from this, i noticed the following. for me, if i don't hit the find button and just leave the name class name... checked, the remote does not bring up the epg, don't know why but it doesn't, when i hit the find button and then apply, the remote does bring up the epg.

after that i setup a state setup whereby i had state 1 as open epg and state 2 as close epg, and continuing to hit the find function the remote done what i want it to.

i am now in the process of trying to get the open epg and select epg window to run one right after the other by pressing menu once so i can then just navigate my way through the window, and then by hitting menu a second time i am able to close if i don't actually change channels. this is proving difficult and so far the only way i have been able to get it to work is by assigning a three state setup. menu 1 open, menu 2, select the myepg window, menu 3 close the window. It works but not the way i want it to. as i would love to hit menu once have myepg open and select the myepg window with the first menu hit and close the myepg with the second menu hit, but so far my attempts have been unseccessful. i'm going to spend more time on this site searching the forums i guess :D

if anyone else has an ss2 remote i will gladly let you have a copy of my gml file for you to try out. just pm me.

thanks.

Thanks for posting this.

If you send the GML to the support address in the about box of Girder with a short description, Ron will put it up for downloading...

Hey,

I have a myepg/MT girder file. Its not designed for the ss2 remote but you can download it here. http://i.1asphost.com/Switzch/Girder/girder_for_myepg_&_MT.GML

Basically what I am using is an 'is foreground' for myepg and MT. Whatever is in the foreground it will enable the corresponding groups. Then on top of that I use a windows exist myepg that opens and closes the guide each time.

i'm nearing the point where i almost confortable letting the wife give the remote a try. Its not quite there yet but i think it will work well enough for her to at least see that i'm doing is worth while, maybe.

so, i have now assigned all the numbers to the remote and can search and run through myepg with the numbers.

still for the life of me i can't get my myepg button to load myepg and activate the window for mouse scrolling consistently with the states, i'm going to give groups a try. The same frustration arrives with trying to get the channel list on the right side (for me at least) to get active so i can scroll down and select channels from that areas as well.

to date, i have only been able to select that area with my mouse and then use the up down buttons on the remote to scroll up and scroll down. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

ps. i don't feel confortable enough with my gml file just let to send it to the support email, but maybe when i have it working better.

take care
