Good for you! Don't think you'll regret it. My USB-UIRT is sitting in the Tokyo post office over the weekend - should get it at the office on Monday. I've been very happy with my UIRT2 so far, but I'm looking forward to eliminating it's cables.
I noticed that Jon Rhees has posted the Girder plugin now - looks just like the old UIRT2 one.

Dave,
Yep just arrived this morning (Monday Tokyo time). Wow they are small. About 2" wide!! The serial numbers suggest that I have got the 4th and 9th devices built . I wonder who got number one?? I got the 56Khz model (although I don't have any of those remotes yet), and a nice black cable.
Anyway, I tried it out with Girder and works fine with the only remote I have here in the office. One thing I really like is that it has a RX/TX LED - you can choose which modes to show. Haven't played with wake on USB yet.
I also have a BSD and a Linux user with USB-UIRTS so we may get some other OS support before too long!! (The device was in pieces within five minutes of getting it).
All in all a very nice product - as would be expected from Jon.

I just got mine today. Looks like I got lucky unit #7. I was surprised at how small it is too. I'll have to try it out too see how it works later tonight.

Do you think Jon will offer some sort of "upgrade" for current UIRT owners?
What do current UIRT owners think. Will most of you upgrade (even at full cost?)

I already had a serial UIRT but was having some problems with it regarding longer IR coes and my 56Hz components so the USB-UIRT was a no brainer; however, even if I wasn't having problems, I probably would have bought the USB-UIRT anyway. Considering the Jon never sold the original UIRT in a kit or finished form, I'm not sure if it is reasonable to expect him to offer a trade in. Besides, my UIRT is so heavily modified that it barely resembles the original anyway.
