Ben,

Sorry if you've answered this in AVS...but since you've started this board I've kinda given up the "long searches" over there....

Anyway, I've upgrded to .975 and have had to re-configure my hard keys. For some reason I can't seem to map the left & right d-pad keys to anything. I've assigned aliases to left, right, far left, and far right in Pronto Edit. I then use Extreme Config mode to assign far left to the lower d-pad key, far right to the up d-pad key, left to the left d-pad key, and right to the right d-pad key. The far left and far right map correctly. But the left and right do not map to my left & right d-pad keys. I've tried everything I know how to try..... Am I missing something?

I've also tried this in Marantz Edit with similar results.

Help? :?:

You can not assign a Far Left and Far right key in Marantz Touch Screen Setup - those key names do not exist. The Marantz remotes only have 2 programmable hard button assignments corresponding to Left and Right. I'm confused.

Dave,

I think I'm confused too  . Let me play with this a bit more. I may have mis-interpreted some of the button names and d-pad functions.

thx

No longer confused..... Pays to download the user's guide and look at the key names before "ass"uming you know what they are.....
:?

Glad it worked out. :)

Can you tell me/us which specific issue was confusing? It would help so we can add it to the userguide / faq.

Thanks!

Each editor has a different mix of hard/programmable keys. If you don't know what the keys are called, or where they are on the device (ie you don't read the documentation and instead you make assumptions) it can make it difficult to map them in NetRemote. I have been jumping from Pronto Edit to Marantz Editor to Tonto in order to explore the various capabilities of each. This has been confusing. It's really a matter of taking the time to read the docs.

Also, I THINK there may be a key mapping discrepancy on the latest Tonto release...... more on this later after I do some experimenting.

I made a fairly in depth post about this on the AVS forum thread (remember that?):

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?postid=1743384#post1743384

I requested that Ben nix the Light button since it has no software role. Also, I remember Mr.Allen mentioning that he was going to change the was hardbuttons were handled to help us NetRemoters out - in particular to get around the 'missing' Far Left and Far Right Button Labels when using a RC9200 CCF.
