Did you specify the right comport.
Are you sure that you don't have any other programs running that are blocking the IRman/Comport.

Have you tried uninstalling the evation software completely?

It sounds a like the evation software may have installed a driver which is preventing Girder from getting to the port.

Hi all:

I'm using Irman, Girder, Pronto w/ an HTPC.

I've downloaded a new file for a new DVD player called Theatertek (TT) (created by clever people at AVS). Unfortunately the Pronto ccf won't work on my Pronto.

Therefore I want to take the TT file and teach it new IR codes. But I'm lost.

Do I have to delete the current codes associated with specific actions and then teach it new codes. Can I just teach it new codes without deleting the old ones. How do I delete the old codes.

All these questions combined with all this ignorance is dangerous.

Thanks all.

Bob

I have narrowed down my problem.

Girder will not learn any commands from my remotes.

At first girder would not enable my Irman. Then I read the help section and chose 'skip uir init check' and then it enabled input device. Then I followed the 'notepad' example in help and everything went fine until I pushed 'learn event', pointed my remote, clicked, and nothing. Girder still said 'waiting for IR code'. No matter how many times I pushed, it didn't budge.

Here's what I know:
The Irman works (I use the Irman plugin for Powerdvd and it receives commands no problem)
The remote works (I can point at a device and channel)

Any suggestions???

Thanks for your reply Ron,

Here's the situation
I have Irman plugged into COM2
I have the evation software with plugin for Powerdvd installed, running, programmed and working with my Pronto.
I need the additional functionality of Girder.
I downloaded Girder 3022, unzipped, installed.
At first, Girder would not initialize Irman.
I then check 'skip init' per the Girder troubleshooter, and then Girder enabled Irman.
I followed exactly the example of executing Notepad in the help section.
Pushed 'learn code', pointed my remote at Irman and fired.
Girder was still waiting for the IR code.
No matter how many times I pointed and fired, with different remotes and different buttons, nothing.

I have tried this with the evation software running and with it closed.
I tried it on a ME boot and with an XP boot.
I do have logitech IR keyboard and mouse plugged into the PS2 ports.

Any thoughts?

Success,

I downloaded irserver.dll and pasted into hardware plugins. Deleted evation software and hooray, it works.

Now on to programming girder.

Boy oh boy, first prontoedit, then powerstrip, then girder, this htpc thing is tricky. Someone should write a book for ignoramuses like me.

Thanks all.
