View Full Version : Repeating commands in macro (not a good thing)

My startup macro is going haywire! It somehow gets stuck in a loop and keeps repeating the commands to Girder. I am not even sure where to start with this one. I'm pretty sure it's not Girder, because it stops looping as soon as I kill NR (which hangs). I'm not sure that this ever worked, so I don't think it's a new bug.
Thanks!

I would agree with you that this is not a new problem. I have experienced a simmilar behavior in one of the prior versions, but just thought that I was doing something wrong. I havent tried it again since...

I'm not sure I understand. Can you send me both the .ccf and the .gml file?
Are you saying it never "lets up" on the macro button?

I just sent you my CCF and GML. The CCF is big (1.5mb). This is all triggered by the Watch HDTV button on the home page. It sends 3 commands to Girder, waits 8 seconds, then sends 2 more commands, then jumps to another page.
I am not sure what is happening in NR. As soon as I press the button, NR locks up and I have to force quit. However, I can see in Girder it keeps repeating the command macro.
Incidentally, I am using the Win32 version. I have not tried the PPC version for this bug yet.

Okay. I'm on it. This isn't fixed in the RC4 that I just released, but hopefully will be in the next release.
I'm guessing what's happening is that I have the repeat set to 250 milliseconds. Perhaps the macro isn't finishing in 250 millis, so it keeps restarting the macro before the last is done?
If I flip this to make sure the whole thing is done, then wait 250 millis, it will work.
That's just a guess, though.

Um...what's "the repeat"? Have I set something by accident?

Maybe that's not it. By "the repeat", I mean that if you hold the button down, it attempts to repeat the action.
The problem is that if in action is > 250 milliseconds, it will fire incorrectly. I just fixed this problem, but not sure if it impacts the problem you guys are seeing. I will investigate.

I see - no, that's not what I'm doing. This is a simple press and release. I have an 8000ms timeout. Is that too long?

OK - I may be having larger problems than this macro. None of my buttons are communicating consistently with Girder. Sometimes a button press does nothing, and other times it will send the command twice. I reinstalled Girder 3.2.9, but that didn't help. I am definitely running NR .99rc4 (Win32). I can VNC into the machine without any problems (so the network is OK).
Is anyone else having these problems?

Zak, I'll take a look to see if anything is weird over here. I think I have almost wrangled the rest of the Media Center bugs out, so now I'll focus on Girder and IR, starting with Girder.
I'll hopefully have an answer for you tomorrow night.
As usual, thanks for your patience.
