When to open COM port in Action plugin

Thats a nice problem, as you correctly observe the software plugins where not designed for this task..... Maybe you can open and close the comport when you actually need to send something to the GSM.

I plan to make an action plugin that uses a
COM port to talk to a GSM (for sending SMS).

My problem is, that when Girder starts the
action interface is already active and can
be called.

Even though settings may not be in place or
need to be changed.

As opposed to the HW part of a plugin that
is enabled/disabled by means of F9, there is
no means to enabled/disabled the action part.

Any ideas how to tackle this???? presumably
inside Girder...
