Hi y'all -

Its time to actually build the remote that I have been describing to my friends and family for two months. It's not that I have been intenionally putting it off. My wife and every hosue guest is baffled by our 6 remote controls and the chewed up "instruction" sheet that I wrote :)

So, its time for Phase II of my project: forage for every code that I need to automate my HT and house music. I have managed to get most of the CCF's from remote central, but not all...

So again, the question: How do I use my slink-e to learn codes and make a CCF? I saw some reference to using the learn function of WinPDA but it sounded like a big workaround. I only have a PPC and a Slink-e to work with, so if that is the only way to do it, I guess I will try it.

C'mon - there must be _someone_ using slink-e to learn codes.

How do you do it? I tried using the PDAWin app to learn codes. Aside from being incredibly cumbersome, 95% of my learned codes did not work. Ugh. Any tips would be appreciated.

Hi Pete,

The question is whether you have a huge number of IR commands, or not. I (currently) use pdawin to learn IR codes and send them using NRIRServ.

If you have 10-20 commands, it is currently more stable to use EZLearn to learn the commands to a cde file, and then use Girder to send them.

I have had a few problems with NRIRServ recently, and I hope to resolve them and get it more stable shortly.

Let me know how else I can help.

Yeah, I have a huge amount of commands to learn and use.

I am confused about the stability issue. What part of the process is unstable? Did you mena using them via NRIRServ can be unstable?

I have noticed that NRIRServ just stops working sometimes.

NRIRServ itself is a little unstable. The firing of codes works fine, but sometimes NRIRServ will stop listening (as you've seen).

I haven't look at the code for awhile, but a little clean-up work should help debug what's going on and keep it running great.

RC7 should be out in a few days. This is the final RC unless something is broken. Once that is available to the masses, I will be focusing efforts on strengthening NRIRServ, as well as adding IR learn to NetRemote PPC version.
