Hi -
I get (and have for several revisions now) the following error messages (each in its own little popup text box) when I start up Girder:
The procedure entry point CreateToolhelp32Snapshot could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
D:Program FilesGirderPlugInsHardwareTaskCreate.dll
Error Code 6
D:Program FilesGirderPlugInsHardwareTaskSwitch.dll
Error Code 1447
Cannot load dll
BlockPlugin.dll
After all the multiple message boxes are clicked down, Girder does work correctly - it just doesn't come up cleanly.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong to have caused this?
Regards,
Kevin

When encoutering problems like yours, the best thing to do is to delete all traces of the problematic program, then reinstall. I have no idea if you did this or not. Maybe you did, Maybe you didn't. You didn't clarify this.
- Quick Answer
Format Hard drive, Reinstall OS, then reinstall Girder.
- Long Answer
1. Use Control Panel Add/Remove Software, find Girder, and uninstall.
2. Delete the directory C:Program FilesGirder 3.0. (Save stuff that you might have created)
**Be Careful when using Regedit**
*I do not recommend this unless you are experienced with Regedit.
3. Delete the registry Entry by doing the following...
3.1 Start->Run Type "Regedit"
3.2 Delete the entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREGirder 3.0
4. While in the Registry Editor, do a search and delete any references to Girder.
5. Reinstall Girder.
If this does not work, repost the problem.

kautrey are you using WinNT ?
If so then please don't reinstall the OS
or Girder, Girder uses some functions that
WinNT doesn't have. I'm working on wrapper
functions for this problem but the quick
fix is to remove
D:Program FilesGirderPlugInsHardwareTaskSwitch.dll
D:Program FilesGirderPlugInsHardwareTaskCreate.dll

Uggh. I feel like a heel. Sorry.
I run Windoze 2000 and never had such problems. Anytime I have problems with software, I found the easiest way to remedy is to delete all traces of the problematic software, then reinstall. I tried helping, but since I don't know enough, I guess it would be in best interest to keep my 2 cents to myself. Sorry, I was just trying to help.

No need to feel like a heel at all!
Yes, I do run WinNT and yes, I did try uninstalling Girder and re-installing - which did not help at all.
I did not try reformatting the hard drive and re-installing - as I thought that would be pretty drastic until I heard back from this forum... :-)
Anyway, I will delete the TaskCreate.dll and TaskSwitch.dll files and see if that helps the problem until the wrapper functions can be implemented.
Thanks for the help!

Kevin

I've update the taskswitch detector to use wrapper functions, but I run Win2K and not WinNT so I cannot test it. If you would download the updated plugin and give me some feedback that would be great!
