Well, after the new WLAN driver came out, I tried again, and now I'm down to around 11 second connect time to my WLAN (it was more than 16 with WM2003 without that upgrade, with PPC2002 it's around 8-10). So I've decided to stick with it. And I'm on MC 9.1 now as well. Works equally well on my system. So my conservative approach to upgrading and patience after everything started to work well has again given results. Bleeding edge for NetRemote is Ok, but not for the whole system. Too many problems with the wife acceptance factor (TM). 8)

I upgraded mine to 2003 and found the the wlan was totally unusable, therefore going back to 2002... did you install the new firmware or just the wlan driver ?

I've installed all upgrades as they have come out. One came a week or so ago, and it made it more stable. But it all depends on your access point. It works better with some than with others. I use a 3Com.
