Welcome to the wonderfull world of Infra red remote controls and Girder. Hope you enjoy your stay!

I don't know about that resending of modified codes though... but it never hurts to try if you have the parts anyway

Are you saying that there are functions of your Technics Receiver that don't appear on your Technics remote? Or are you saying that there are some buttons on your Technics remote that your learning remote refuses to learn?

If the former is the case (i.e., you want to control some functions that your Technics remote doesn't have buttons for but you believe are IR-controllable), than YES, you could learn the codes with UIRT and then modify them trial-and-error style.

Ahh, I see. Welcome to the fun world of IR learning. Unfortunately, even if you learn your Technics' remote into UIRT, I believe your Philips remote will still refuse to learn those IR commands from UIRT. UIRT should play them back just how it received them.

Hello,

I discovered Girder and this forum after searching for info about IR transmitting since I have the following problem:

I recently bought a Philips universal remote (SBC RU880/00, (I just found out about Pronto  ), with learn mode since I had 7 remotes in use.
I managed to program/learn every device code or button, except some functions of my (brand new) Technics receiver remote. The Philips remote has no (documented) option to enter raw codes so the only way it can send the right codes is by learning them.

I was wandering if it would be possible to capture the Technics remote codes through UIRT and somehow transmit them in a modified way so the Philips remote can learn them.

Anyway, I just ordered all the parts to build the UIRT in order to let Girder control my music collection

I've read a lot of the mail on this forum and discovered I am a seeeeeeerious newbie regarding IR, though I have medium knowledge of electronics & am a die hard experimenting PC hard- en software user

Greetings,
Filip

All operation buttons are on the original Technics, but the Philips UR refuses to learn from the original remote.

If I use the device code of the Technics receiver on the Philips UR, all basic functions work, except the input selection: Tape, DVD, CD, blabla.
These functions can be learned, but the signal of the Technics remote isn't recognised by the Philips ... btw the original Technics CD remote isn't recognised either.

All other brands of remotes I own are very well accepted by the Philips UR. So you see it's kind of stupid I can perfectly command 7 devices except the input selection on my AV receiver

Greetings,
Filip

Mmm, but the strange thing is my Technics AV receiver listens to both the known pre-programmed device codes of the Philips and of course to the original remote. So where's the difference ?

I presume the Philips only reads (learns) up to 32 bit, and the Technics code is longer. But this means either the pre-programmed Technics codes in the Philips UR are shorter OR it can transmit longer codes but not learn them ... Could the IR decoder in the receiver know different codes for the same function ?

I hope to compare the signals when I have UIRT running and my brain still works by then  Wow, this is some serious heavy stuff

Greetings,
Filip
