View Full Version : WTF?! Pronto.ttf takes over SIMpad keyboard

When pronto.ttf is in the Fonts directory, my soft keyboard has Pronto icons instead of some of the keys (like arrowkeys). Annoying! I'm going to try to move the ttf file to \Windows and see if that helps. Has anybody else seen this?

Yep, I have the same problem, although at first I hadn't realized the issue was due to pronto.ttf. I noticed that pronto.ttf gets installed into the \windows\fonts directory but all the other fonts are in the \windows directory. However, copying the other fonts into the fonts directory doesn't help and I tried moving pronto.ttf into the NetRemote directory but NetRemote didn't find it so it messed up its keys.
I did find a bit of a workaround though:
- Change the extension on pronto.ttf.
- Change the keyboard's size - this causes it to re-read the font. It should go back to it's normal font. Change the keyboard back to your preferred size.
- Change pronto.ttf back to it's original extension.
The keyboard will still keep its normal font unless you change the keyboard size or do a soft/hard reset of the SIMpad.
Not much of a workaround but better than nothing. We need to figure out where the keyboard is picking up the font information. Possibly in the registry somewhere?

Well, I searched the registry but couldn't find anything significant that seemed font related. Not sure what's going on here. :x

Let's hope our all powerful wizard of Net will find a solution to that one as well! Are you up to it, Ben? That dayjob can't be that important...

I wonder if it's something with the way I'm installing it. I want to play around with this a bit anyway as I don't like how it is supposedly "in rom" on the PPC when you install it to that directory. I wonder if that's also throwing off the simpad.

At least it's not in ROM on the SIMpad, I can move and delete it at will.
