I just tested it on my system, and it sometimes does switch back on and sometimes it does not
Weird... Let me see what I can do about this...

Okay, download "Monitor APM" from the download page and tell me if this fixes the problem for you. There are 2 methods of putting the monitor into standby. With the "postmessage" box checked or without, let me know if that makes any difference for you.

This functionallity is also built into Girder, I'm only trying to figure out why it is not working/turning off and immediately on again .
Currently it might not work because of priveliges, I've only tested it as super-user/administrator under win2k.

Monitor comes on when you move the mouse  now that is by design windows behaviour, nothing we can do about that as far as i know.

hmm,.. possible, but I think I had the problem also with just 1 command in the tree... and executing the off command twice should not be the reason for the monitor to come back on. Thanks for the idea though.

I'm trying to use Girder to power off the monitor on my PC. The problem is that it turns back on after a few seconds. I'm not sure if it's the mouse that's doing it. What I really need is to turn off the monitor with my IR Remote, and only have it turn on via the same remote (i.e. I'm trying to simulate a power down). This will allow me to use the PC as a TiVO-like device, and give the whole system a bit of "polish". Any ideas?

Ron,
It works! I created a multigroup to toggle the monitor on/off. Funny thing, the monitor off worked fine, but monitor on needed the postmessage. The only thing holding me back is the mouse. The monitor still turns on if the mouse is moved. Anything you can do about that?
Thanks

Definatly a needed plugin, unfortunatly it doesn't seem to work in winME. Might be because I have 2 monitors, I'll try disabling one later.

I always just thought the monitor was coming back on because I was holding the button down too long and it was executing the next command in the multigroup, in this case Monitor On.
It seems as though if I just tap the button on the remote, then I don't have this problem.

It also seems that you need a delay of around 200ms when using keystrokes (using wait command) otherwise the monitor comes back on again. I guess it must still be picking up the keypress.
This is with both the built in and plugin monitor off.
