I'd like to start a list with the best tips & tricks around Simpad and NetRemote. Building on the excellent input from Jeroen, Tor and the master Ben himself, this is meant as a knowledge capturing exercise to have everything together.

I'll start:

- The best wifi card for the Simpad is the Siemens I-Gate. I tried Netgear MA 701 and Airlancer MC-11 but the connection was never stable. The I-Gate has in built drivers which work like a charm (caveat: reading the forum, it seems like at least one unlucky soul had a problem with the I-Gate). Plus the I-Gate is only €30!

What is the model number? In the US I don't think they sell a card called "I-Gate"

I think I must be the "unlucky soul" that sapnho referred to. Yes, I had nothing but problems with the IGate. I replaced it with a Compaq WL110, and that's been working like a champ. So, I couldn't recommend the IGate, but many have had success with it. The price certainly can't be beat! But, I don't think there's any reason to rush out and get an IGate if you have any other cards to try. I also don't think that it's generally considered one of the best cards, but it may be a good choice for the Simpad for many. As far as I know, the best 802.11B cards out there in the non Simpad world are considered to be the Cisco, and the Orinoco running a close second.
