I have a 5450 with latest firmware OS, and WLAN updates and am trying to get it to connect to my network.

My network is hardwired 100Mb thru a 5 port switch. Internet access is via a dial up account on a machine set up for Internet connection Sharing, therefore it is 192.168.0.1. All machines running Win 2k Pro. The machine that I want to run Media centre on is a laptop with PCMCIA LAN network card.

Can I run two network cards in the same machine? I thought I could. One will be the hardwired LAN card, the other a Belkin 802.11b PCMCIA WLAN card.
The hardwired card is set to obtain IP address automatically from ICS machine.

What setting do I need on the WLAN card, ? ie IP address, DNS server etc.

As well as controlling Girder and Media centre, is it going to be possible to also access the internet thru such a set up?

Any ideas?

Wow, you're in for a world of hurt, to use the immortal words of the great former wrestler Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Don't even consider spending more time on getting this working. I wasted several hours on a similar setup and never got it working correctly. You should buy a WLAN access point/network bridge. They are so cheap now that it's just not worth the pain trying anything else.

As for setup I have my 5450 as 192.168.0.98, with DSN and Gateway 192.168.0.1 and it works very well. It did work on PPC2002 and it works on my less than legal copy of WM2003...

OK thanks, have been scratching my head for a while on this.

What is the stumbling point? or is even that not clear?

I am trying to avoid spending any money at the moment, was tryign to do the job with what I have kicking around. Have jsut spent more than I earned last month on the iPAQ 5450!! I am an out of work pilot/fling instructor, cant even get work filling up cars with petrol/gas at a local filling staion at the moment

Cheers, at least you have saved me wasting any more time on it
