what DLLs did you copy into the \windows directory?
did you remember to stand on one leg when copying the files?

i think there was about 5 or 6 that came in a folder from 1 of the simpad sites.

Try this...
The files I used can be found at: http://www.silentservices.de/simpad/fakedlls-all.zip
1. Restart Activesync and enable PC connection on the Simpad - make sure you have a connection (you should see Mobile Device in windows explorer and be able to view its contents)
2. Copy AYGSHELL.DLL and DOCLIST.DLL (from the files contained in fakedlls-all.zip) to the Simpad \windows directory
3. Download the Pocket PC 2000 Netremote installer (v0.99) and use the default install directory on the Simpad
4. Copy MFCCE300.DLL (from the files contained in fakedlls-all.zip) to the Simpad \program files\netremote directory
My main objective was to get netremote working but since following the procedure in http://www.netremote.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=579 I can also run other PPC2002 applications

Howie - sorry, i didn't realise you were on 4.1
I tried Ce4.1 for SL4 and couldn't get it to work - I posted some help notes based on "upgrading" to v4.0 (using the SLC version as it is a full english install)
see http://www.netremote.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=579
Don't worry about using the SLC cut -t works fine on the SL4

I have my SL4 with CE4.1 & Netremote seems to work fine on it.
No fake DLLs installed.

so should i downgrade to 4.0. do you think this will make it work

no guarantees! :?
but it worked 4 me - i tried many different combinations of CE version (4 / 4.1, SLC / SL4)
and IMO the SLC release of CE4.0 was best and also easiest to get NR working with

Jeroen set up my Simpad for me using CE 4.0 (.NET, I believe) and other than going through something similar to what marketability says in another thread, everything works fine for me.

How do you tell what version (SLC or SL4) of WinCE you are running?
Under Control Panel\System\General mine says 4.1 (Build 908) but nothing about the SL version.
I'm wondering since mine works just fine with NR (no fake DLLS, not fiddling needed).
thanks!

sorry to be a pain but i still cant get it to upgrade everything i try in the dos shell says cannot execute serload. i asume that i leave out the c: as my root is just \ without the c . or is this my problem.

the easiest way to use serload is to put this executable in the same directory as your image files. you then just go to the right directory and type:
serload imagefilename
I believe I upgraded all Simpads I shipped out to English CE.Net version 4.1...

i have tried this as well, in fact i have tried everything and every different combination going ,but all i get is cannot execute serload. no programmes will execute on my simpad at all nothing. so does anybody have any other way of wipeing it clean and starting again or should i just use it as a very expensive calculator and put it down to experience.

First of all, Netremote and other CE programs should work on 4.1 - I have it running that way. Wipeing it clean may be a good idea, but perhaps a hard reset will help to. Just press the reset button while holding the button right of the on/off switch on the front.
Are you able to use ActiveSync? Do you have WiFi up and running?
What other programs are you trying to run? Acrobat is tricky too, if you read german I found the following instructions:
Speicherkarte) kopieren
4. Acrobat Reader für PPC auf PC installieren. Diese bricht mit einer
Fehlermeldung ab
5. Bei Windows CE 3.0 die Datei arceARMde_der.PPC_2577.CAB von z.B.
"c:\Programme\Microsoft Active Sync\Adobe" in einen Hexeditor laden.
Diesen bekommt man z.B. unter http://www.hhdsoftware.com/hexeditor.html
. Dann im Hexeditor nach "mfcce300" suchen und in "mfcce301" abändern
und die Datei speichern
6. Die CAB-Datei ins Verzeichnis TEMP auf dem Simpad kopieren
7. Im Explorer des Simpad (über Arbeitsplatz) die CAB-Datei ausführen
und evtl. Warnmeldungen bestätigen
See http://www.silentservices.de/simpad/simpad-faq.html for this and more.

i did the hard reset and tried the netremote installer and it said the same thing (this is not a valid win ce application). so i copied the fake dlls to the win dir and tried again with no luck. so then i tried to downgrade to ce4.0 again and no matter how i tried it always said (cannot execute serload).so i have now got a very expensive calculator. thanks to everybody who has tried to help me but i must have a duff model. i think i will have to get a dell axim, are they any good?

after some digging around on the internet people have been telling me that to load anything on a pocket pc or in my case the simpad you have to first load the application onto a main pc first and with activesync running you have to run the programme on the pc first and it will load it onto the ppc. is this right as i have been copying the files to the ppc and then trying to run the executable from the ppc. is this why nothing will run on my simpad.
