Whats the best way to get it to control winamp?

I can make it switch to the winamp window and then press the 'x' key to make it play. Only this way means that i cant be playing a game at the same time as i will have to switch from it. Is there any way i can control winamp and leave it in the background? are there any winamp plugins?
