Thanks for being patient everyone. I've been sending versions to try out to "the inner core" for the past 2 weeks, and I think we're close.
I want this version to be the most stable version ever, so it's taking a little longer than normal.
Thanks again for your patience.

Excellent ! Take your time Ben. I too - wish for stability. Even still - I can't wait.

No arguments here, please take as long as it needs.
When you say new release, are we talking about v1 or v0.9959765678 (sorry I couldn't resist that)
Keep up the good work!

Somewhere in between. :)

Good news, folks. There is one last lingering bug that needs to be resolved and then the next release is ready for posting here.
Just thought I'd let you all know.

Does that mean you resolved the sequence issue with multiple artists??? :? :?

Unfortunately no. There is no way to handle this from the NetRemote side without doing a complete hack. I'm hoping the JRMC folks fix this on their side.

I posted a message on the Jriver message board just the other day and got no response from anybody from Jriver.

I think this needs a coordinated effort of postings on the Jriver main forum. They fix so many bugs, they might as well get this one right.

Well, I gave it another try on the MC forum. Please check here http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3 and add to the thread to make seen by the developers! :( :) :o :D

Posted in two separate threads about this issue.
Really it's an easy bug to fix.
Default sort by
AlbumArtist,Album,Track
instead of
Artist,Album,Track
Argh!

:D
Is the feedback problem resolved for the next release?
Thanks

I'm not sure which feedback problem you mean. With Girder? Fixed.
Regarding Album/Album Artist, I just had the following exchange with Matt over at J. River
Is there any possibility to getting that sort bug fixed? Defaulting the sort to Album Artist/Album/Track (instead of Artist/Album/Track) would fix it nicely and make everything run great.
Done next build.
So good news! I'm under the assumption that by next build he means 10, not 9, but overall good news!

Ben, provided this bug is fixed in the next version, do you think that this also fixes the playlist-not-random bug?

Possibly. I'll need to play a bit.
I'm sending Matt my newest RemoteServer version to include in the next build, and once the new version is out I'll give it a try.

I got the answer :D
Thanks very much and keep up the good work

Very nice work, Ben! I may even have to upgrade to 10 on my setup (which I have registrered a couple of months ago when they had the special offer), perhaps it's stable enough to let it do my systems. It seems like most of the bugs I'm reading about is CD burning, iPod stuff, weird file formats (who the heck wants to play Real Player files anyway? They sound like shit!) and visual stuff, which does not matter at all as long as I only need it to play MP3 music without crashing.

Hi Ben,
I am having problems with XL cover art with the new version. After playing like 20 APE files with embedded cover art, NetRemote will display only the NetRemote logo on the following tracks. Very strange! :(

Even if you go back to previous tracks that have them?

Well, yes and no. If I go back and forth the cover may be there - or not depending on really nothing (i.e. I couldn't establish a pattern when it works and when it doesn't). It is more reliable than the old version but it is still very moody with APE embedded cover art...

I'll take a closer look.
