View Full Version : How to respond to GlobalCaché RS232 inputs in NetRemote?

One thing I would like to do is to receive (from a remote pushbutton) RS232 commands that I feed into the GlobalCaché unit. The GlobalCaché, when it receives such input, will automatically echo it as an IP stream into Port 4999 or 5000. I would like NetRemote to listen for this information, and when it detects such incoming input, to produce some output, i.e., to emit a certain IR code. How can I do this?

Hi George -
Check out my post here (http://www.netremote.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=775&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=240#6555) which should give you a bit of a head start.

Thanks!
So now I'm trying to understand your Denon example...
Is there some tutorial on the use of variables? Eric Bariaux's nice draft unfortunately gets very terse when he starts discussing variables.
In your example, for instance, where/how is the variable PWON initially defined? Also, the variable PW?\r, what is the syntax for it? I presume PW has to have been defined somewhere, "?" means query, and "\r" means....

George,
Don't hesitate to send me feedback like this. I haven't had time to work on the tutorial in a long time but I'd sure like to continue and improve it.
Being a developer myself I sometime tend to overlook some concepts...
I'll try to go into more details for variables and add some examples.
Eric.

Hi George -
Actually, that's all the Denon protocol.
PW?\r means "tell me the current power setting, Mr. Denon" which it will respond with "PWON" and "PWOFF".
