as you have WinLirc up and running you could try to use Girder's WinLirc plugin.

I apologize if this is a common question (which it probably is)..but I can't seem to get Girder to recognize anything. I have a Packard Bell IR remote/receiver, and it works great with WinLIRC..but that only controls Winamp. Some of the plugins for GIrder look pretty nifty, and I'd really like to get it up and running.

So..any ideas on how to get this set up?
