View Full Version : Global Cache and NR 0.995rc7 doesn't work

Hi,

I got my GC100 today and I am quit disappointed at the moment. I loaded my CCF which I am using for years with PDAWin now and anticipated it to work with NR by switching the IR Plugin to GlobalCaché.
I set the TCPIP-address to the one of my GC, set the port to 4998 and left timeout on the default (1000).
The thing that happened was, that the first button press seemd to work okay, the second press, the button is stuck in pressed position and GC doesn't send. After that NR seems to go bogus. The iPAQ-LED stays constantly on, and after a few presses NR is frozen.
So perhaps it is my CCF? I loaded Ben's GC-IR-SAMPLE and it reacts exactly the same way. So I conclude 0.995rc7 has a broken IR-plugin. All the plugins in my ppc netremote directory are from 03-25-2004. Is that correct or is there something wrong with my installation?
I'm desperate so please help A.S.A.P.
Thanks

Wilhelm

P.S. The Win32 Version behaves similar, it only needs longer for it to crash. Has anybody tested this lately?

Hi Wilhelm -
I don't currently have my GC rig setup for IR, I'll connect it all up and give it a test run and get results to you tomorrow.

This was working the last I touched it, but I didn't run through a full regression test with the latest release, and I believe all of your plugins are dated correctly.

I'll get this working for you ASAP, Wilhelm. The GC is a nice device, and it -should- be virtually plug and play with your current CCF.

Thanks Ben,

I can't wait!

Hi Wilhelm - sorry to keep you waiting.

I found a pretty large bug with the globalcache implementation that I've now fixed. I'm wrapping up the rest of the fixes and will have everything ready (including this fix) tomorrow evening.

Thanks Wilhelm!

Thanks Ben,

that's nice to hear.
One thing I came across yesterday is the question, what the GC plugin timeout setting does? Studying the GC's API I can't imagine at the moment what it might do.

The timeout just tells the plugin how long to wait for the GlobalCaché to respond. If it cannot connect in 1000 milliseconds (default) it will stop trying to connect.
