I am using a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. It works just fine!

I was wondering if anyone had used a cheap IR keyboard (WIN TV? ). To control a PC via Girder and an IR port.

I, too, have a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Is it possible to use the receiver to capture signals from any remote? I don't even know what type of signal occurs between the keyboard and receiver (IR, RF ?). But I'd like to know if I could install some plugin into Girder that would capture IR signals from a remote control (say, my TV remote)?

Is this possible? I've got alot to learn about Girder and its world!

Thanks!
greg

I forgot to ask, which plug-in are you using with Girder for your wireless keyboard and mouse?

Yep, you'll need a IRMAN or UIRT or simaler - there are many doing exactly that (WINAMP being controlled from the hi-fi remote is brillenet :) )

I had a remote/mouse IR combo (all in one device) in my hands with the intention of using it with a LIRC or any other IR device since it emmits in the 38Mhz freq, but I changed my mind about that.

I don't know for the logitech and other IR keyboard, but the one I had was sending several codes for each keypress. I think its all the status plus control/shift/alt keys in addition to the key itself.

nonetheless, the starting and finishing codes where almost always the same.

I'd prefer using it with a standard keyboard/mouse interface then with my IR sensor.

If you have an IR Keyboard/mouse, then using the Keyboard plugin would probably be the best bet..
