For those that have seen the fantastic skins that Dragyn makes for MC you'll be plased to know that he's adapted my ccf to make it match the superb Opus MC (Blue) skin.

Opus NR will be available for download soon as an MC only ccf.

Here's a preview that Dragyn posted at Interact:

Dragyn changed the default image that NR uses when there is no cover art. It's in C:\Program Files\NetRemote.

As you can see he's changed the screen shot so he's still working on it. Then I have some work to do on it to fix button actions etc. and make it into an MC only ccf. Then it will be posted.

I'll try my best. It depends what time zone you are in. I'm in UK and hope to finish it by about 10pm tonight. I had a set back because I crashed my ppc last night and 3 soft resets would not fix it. I'm in a foul mood now 'cos I hate hard resetting it. I can never remember how to set the ******* thing up again. I mean? Connect to work? Connect to Internet? VPN? It's all nonsense to me so it usually takes me a couple of hours of trial and error to get connected again. This time I'm gonna write it all down when I'm done. I bet it's only a 15 minute job if you know what you're doing.

Hi JLee,

what would you think about making a backup?
You don't need to remember anything for restoring this. ;-)
You can do it on a memory card or do it by using ActiveSync.
Think about it.

But besides that, what happened? I never had to hard reset mine, except when I forgot to charge the battery.

Jlee
July 15th, 2004, 02:13 AM
Wilhelm I was reading this very page when you replied:

http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/activesync/backup.htm

As soon as I've got it all set up and configured correctly I'll do a back up.

Wilhelm

Good, but I suggest you do your backups over your WLan connection. Its much faster than using the cradle.

Well after another 5 hours tonight I think it's all done but it's not finished testing and I haven't let Dragyn see what I've done to his lovely graphics, so I won't put it in the Gallery just yet.

However, as MikeC is entertaining tonight I've attached a special pre-release to this post.

Back up your ppc first.

One issue I've had is with the playlists function. It's not the ccf but it's an NR or MC issue. If you point a GAC at fixed playlists in MC that are stored in the MC Playlists tree location it does not play the correct files - it plays something else. This problem does not happen if you point the GAC at a view scheme under Media Library in the Tree. That's where I store all my playlists anyway as they are mostly smartlists (which are just like a view scheme with no items added). So, you can get round the playlists issue by editing the action on the playlists button under Macros>New Device to make it point at Media Library\Playlists and put all your smartlists there instead. Change the button action to "MP.GACScheme,Media Library\Playlists" without the quotes.

Let me know if you have any comments or issues and I'm sure Dragyn will want some feedback on the skin.

[Edit I already noticed that I forgot the actions on the Vol icons so I updated the attached file.]

No, it's exactly the same and it works fine for me in both ccf's. Is it the play buttons that isn't working or the display of the tracks? Remember that Add to playing now needs play mode to be set and the lua file to be stored with your ccf (see Readme).

It stands for Get Album Cover Art which was it's original purpose. It developed into a graphical way of displaying the library as an alternative to the tree.

JLee,

Thanks big time. The CCF was a big hit. Looks great. Easy to navigate. The Main and Library pages got a good workout by alot of people. Working great. I have a few questions about some of the CCF but I can't remember them at this hour :D

One NR PIA is the way the Playing Now que is wiped out by someone clicking play instead of add/insert/next. Something that never bothered me but does cause an issue at a party when a newbie wipes the last 10 songs that someone just added :o

Thanks again. Awesome work.

Enjoy.

This has always been an issue with MC. If you look under playlists in MC you should find one for 'Recent playing nows' so this is one way to get them back. Even before you mentioned this I was thinking the same thing. I think you need some sort of setting that you can turn on and off whereby when it's off it works like now and when it's on the play buttons jump to a warning panel first i.e. "if playwarning = 0 then execute play else jump to warning panel" (notice how good my lua programming is (not!). I was thinking of implementing it in my GAC panels but there would be no point while Play is still lurking in the Library and Search Results Panels.

Alternatively, maybe it would be nice just to be able to disable the Play button during parties. Now we have PLAYNEXT there should be no need to wipe the Playing Now list.

Ben suggested he was going to remove 'Insert' as it's useless so maybe while he's at it he could add an option in the Media Bridge plug in to disable 'Play'. ....And while I'm thinking about it you could implement a function to Clear Playing Now so PN would only be wiped when explicitly selected. I use Girder for this in my normal ccf.

I don't see how it can work with JLee ccf and not Opus unless you edited JLee as the button actions are exactly the same. Double check your VS to the details in the ReadMe making sure all VS names, items and rules are exactly the same.

My eyes were playing tricks on me.

I thought it said in the readme to use "NETREMOTE" instead of "NetRemote".

Just another case of operator error.

I guess, I really do need to get the "BIFOCAL" eyeglasses the doctor recommended.

Thanks for the help and great work on the CCF.

Just wanted to say I only ported the images over. I didn't actually make them. This (along with Opus MC) came from the Opus OS XP style. I made the buttons and redid some of the borders.

As for the images, I can post them up. It will be later as I have to get ready for work right now.

Don't know how many use Opus MC but I have been making changes since the first release. Good or bad, I don't know. Not many have replied on the changes.

I wish I could see what this actually looks like on a PPC but I don't own one. From what I hear, it sure does sound cool.

I'll most like be making matching NR skins for the other colors in Opus MC too...besides the blue when I have the time.

I can do that once I've tidied the directory out of all the stuff we are no longer using in the ccf. Also I made a few more buttons since you sent me the icons so I can include those too.

Hey! You're calling my friends stupid

I think we would have to do something on the setup page where we could change the options on the list.

The other problem I found was people adding 5000 songs to the playlist by accident. We probably need a way to control that as well.

Jlee
July 16th, 2004, 09:57 AM
I already posted a feature request in the JRMC section. I agree that we just need to be able to disable 'Play' in plug in properties as and when required. We also need to be able to call a variable in the ccf to find out if it's disabled so we can control our GAC schemes (i.e. hide buttons that will not work because LX PLAY is disabled).

Setting a limit to the number of tracks that can be added would also be a great addition and would make my life complete though I can see this being a bit more tricky.

I already limit my favourite random smartlists to 100 tracks but the problem is that they are mostly in view scheme groups so if you play all the group you get the whole library (in my case 28K). This is not limited to stupid people either as I do it all the time... no sarcastic comments please!

JLee,

In your readme you mention the hard buttons are "Full Screen" and "Screen Saver"

Are these setting contained within your CCF? If not, I'm not sure a new user will understand how the buttons are setup and they will be stuck with the Opus CCF in Fullscreen.

Looks like Ben has removed the option in the latest 1.0 prerelease.

The lua file just sets a variable that the ccf needs when NR starts up. The Readme tells you what to do with it. Just pop it in the same directory as the ccf. If has no girder actions in it.

The icon next to the 'Next track' icon has a girder action on it of MC.Open. To use this to start / stop mc just create a girder command that executes "mjextman.exe /power" and assign an internet event server event of MC.Open.

No need for it just yet. I'm busy updating my own ccf to include opus graphics. It's not as much of a lift and drop as I thought it would be due to the Girder support and extra buttons I need to fit in.

I don't know and aften I wondered the same thing myself. In the past I've put the background on the master template and all device panels have a full page transparent frame. This way I can put a different background on specific panels if I want them. You may have to put the OpusNR background on all of the MC panels.

When I try and run your new version of opus "OpusNR V1-0" all I get is a blank screen and when I close it I cannot re-open. I have to deleat the opus files in "My documents/NRCCF" to force a reload of a working CCF to get NEtRemote nrmc19 to run.

I successfully tried your previous version and have been looking forward to your MC only edition

My Setup:

Placed both the opusnr.ccf and opusnr.lua in the My Documents\NRCCF folder.

Does this happen even if you don't make any changes yourself? I've not had any problems with it.

Which version of NR? It should be 0.996.3 with that remoteserver.dll.

The PlayNext feature will not work in 0.996 but that shouldn't cause those probelms. Try without the lua file.

Is anyone else using OpusNr with 0.996?
