Hi all,
I am a newbie that has got a major problem, I have just installed Girder and LCD Master to check it out. My problem is that I can't get my LCD to work at all. It has the KS0108 controller chip, and it should be supported with lcd master 0.85....however it only says "cannot open device" is there something wrong with LCD Hype driver?
Anyone that have an idea what could be wrong?
Thanks

Who maks this device?
What size is it ie col/row?
Serial or parallel?
Do you have a link to it?
In the mean time, you can setup the lcd driver to display a simulated display.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your answer.
The display is a graphic 128x64,
parallel and it is made by Fordata Electronics.
Here is a link.

I looked the data sheet. This is a graphic display vs. a character display. The LCD Driver and LCD Master are designed around character displays.
If you have some progamming experience, you probably could overcome this limitation :D

Hi,
Yeah my programming experince is non at all :) , however the display is in LCD Master....it should be supported thru the LCD Hype dll.
Maybe it is just easier for me to buy another display...

I don't see the display listed in the LCD driver list.
Much easier to get another display :D
I highly recommend the martox oribtal products 4x20 usb. I have 2 of them.

Well it is in the list under various, supported by the LCD Hype plugin.

Well I have to see if there will be a fix for it or if I just will buy another LCD....
Thanks for your time.

the KS0108 seams to be a standard for GRAPHICS lcd... you should have a way to communicate with it via serial and manage standard screens or something.

Ohh, then U really are the right guy for this question  good work U put in this...however when U download the LCD Driver 3.5 and unpack it, there is a readme.htm in archive under plugins\lcd ...and on one line it says this...
"Various LcdHype Various The LcdHype library, which supports graphical displays."
Best Regards

MMcM wrote the LCD Driver. I haven't tried that library extension and I am not sure how that works. Have you looked at that web site? It sounds like you need to install some additional software.

Shura_k wrote the LCD plug-in support for LCDHype.
You need both LCDHype itself and the port I/O driver to interface to the parallel port. Did you install both? They are both available from the LCDHype site.

MMcM,
Does this work via your lcd plugin or is it seperate?

There is only the one Girder LCD plug-in. It is configured to use LCDHype KS0108 128x64 and LPT1 (for example). ks0108_128x64.dll will need to be in the path as will dlportio.dll. It will use Windows fonts to rasterize the characters for the graphics display.

OK, I have tried it now and I am sorry to say that it diden't work. I got one bit closer to the goal but now I got an runtime error in lcdhype.dll.
I have copied the driver dll from LCD Hype site and put it in girder directory. I have also dlportio...but it just wont work.
So when it comes to LCD init in LCD master it just hangs and it complains about an error in lcdhype.dll that is supplied with LCD driver 3.5
So if there is any kind person out there that have a solution, I would be very happy.
@ Marsupial --> Wait with buying an graphic LCD :)
