Anyone doing a plug-in for NRIR? That would be fantastic!

I installed the MCE plugin, and noted that Girder learns the transport buttons, but not the number buttons. It would be nice to have Girder recognize the numbers, so I can leave the transport buttons for their original purpose in MCE. I wonder if the problem is with the particular remote I am using (I use the VAIO remote, but the plugin was verified with a Philips remote), or was this a deliberate omission in the MCE Remote plugin?
Any suggestions?

You may want to try the HID plugin with this device and see how that works...

Thanks, Mike! The HID plugin rocks. (Even though the devices listed in "Settings" have no names initially, the MCE IR receiver was among the first couple that I tried. :) --Eric

So, it works with the MCE receiver then? I haven't tried it :)

no not really. i tried this driver from burningZeRoad and had to go back to the original M$ driver. here are the problems:
1) its not very sensitive - i have to press each button for too long before it registers it. with the original driver, just a tap is sufficient. this was the main problem.
2) some of the built in MCE functions are not possible to replicate using girder. (at least i couldn't find how to do it).
3) the blasters worked at first and then stopped working altogether.

I have been trying the MCE driver with netremote for a couple of days. I am only interested in using for sending infrared to my amplifier, dvd player and projector. I am a newbie to girder( 1 week) but have figured most of it out. The problem i am having is that the same infrared signal is being sent no matter what i press in netremote. If i close both programs and reopen and press another button in netremote it will send the correct signal and again will not send any others only repeat. In girder i can test the commands and they work there. Anyone know what i am doing wrong, I assume something easy im missing, always seems to be the way. Thankyou ryan

hey
I have purchased and installed MCE, I then purchased the remote to go with it, but it isn't working. A hardware wizard appears when I plug the IR reciever in and it says it is a "eHome Infrared Transceiver" but it cannot find the driver either on my OS Discs or anywhere else.
I am contemplating purchasing Girder but I need to know that I am gonna get the remote fully working because my girl friend is now getting angry with me for consistantly spending money :)
Anyway, any help on this would be amazing as I have been banging my head against a wall trying to get this to work for over 2 weeks now with no joy.

Kris, it sounds like you need the windows drivers for your device.

I have been looking for them Mike, cheers for the quick reply.
The problem seems to be that they were either installed and over writen, (i dont think it's this because I searched my system for the drivers and cannot find them) Or perhaps somehow they magically disapeared lol
Do you know where I would get the drivers mike?
Kris
P.S. does girder let you use the MCE remote to control media player and powerdvd etc.. all with one remote control. If the answer is yes is making this happen hard or very technical?

Not sure where to get the drivers/install the device. It should work fine to control multiple players with girder but I haven't used that receiver before...

Hey Mike
I found the drivers after trawling the internet for a while. I installed them and it is working perfectly now.
I guess from this point I was wondering what girder would allow me to do that this remote doesn't already do?
Again cheers for the help.
Anyone looking for the drivers, I will attach them to this post for you.

How to install these drivers, I have win XP sp2, eHome IR device + remote that came with WinTV-PVR-USB2 MCE. OS couldn't recognize this IR device. In hadware wizard, I select to install infrared device and point to Irbus.Inf file but it says "The specified location doesnot conatin information about the hardware".
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Take a look at this thread about the BurningZeRoad MCE IR driver http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/33616.aspx and search here for BurningZeRoad for other threads on this.

The problem is the receiver drivers required to make the hole thing work are bundled in Media Center OS only. The receiver works the functions of the OS so its not just the drivers..
I'm working to find a way around it.

I thought that was the whole point of the BurningZeRoad driver!
This page certainly seems to imply that it is http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm

My problem is I just bought an HP m800n Media machine. It came bundled with Vista and all kind of bells. I ripped off the Vista and put on XP pro ( all updates) and the only thing that wont work is this IR receiver. Every program and driver I use will not initialize the IR receiver ( WMC required). I read that thread and tried it all.... Im lost. (an Ill hang my self B4 I go back to Vista).

Did MS update this receiver for vista? The new model may not work with xp

That very well may be. The HP driver site supports only Vista (mind you the hole Puter was base on Vista). One of Vista's problems is it wont remember Passwords..at all. With my net work and websites, I cant handle that! my thought on that was..who in the hell basses a hardware component on an operating system that's only months old!
Its in the device management as an unknown USB Ehome receiver.

Forgive my ignorance, I currently have vista + the MCE ehome receiver. Which version of Girder will work correctly for it? Which plugin is the best one for this receiver? Is it the HID plugin? Will the HID plugin even work under vista?
I've posted in the Girder 5 forum, but I haven't gotten a straight forward response.
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Purchased the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 with the included remote and having the same problem with the infrared transceiver driver under XP.
The remote works with Vista but I really need it to work with the XP ProSP2. Arrived to this forum after searching for a solution but it looks I'm not the only one with this problem. Would appreciate any update on this issue from other forum members, thanks!

Hi Chris,
Have you tried checking the hauppauge site for the latest drivers?
saying that, i think that somewhere around the internets is a copy of the drivers from MCE that you should be able to use on standard XP.

Hi!
I got the same trouble with the MCE remote under WinXP 64bit, but I made some headway, sort of.
This is what I got:
MCE remote V2 and an SMK RXX6000-0141E transceiver that came with a Hauppauge HVR-1800 MCE kit.
I did contact Hauppauge support before I bought anything new and asked explicitly which of their TV tuner cards work with Win XP 64bit. Support named the model that I bought and now they don't want to barf up any drivers or try to correct giving me wrong info. At least the card itself works great.
What I did is get the Windows MCE driver from the Rollup package. That one is designed for 32bit MCE, but after looking up how the .inf files have to be structured for 64bit systems I was able to change the .inf file so that XP64 no longer complains about the driver not being for 64bit Windows and that the device is not supported. I managed to get around that by adding the necessary PID/VID line, although I didn't get the naming right as the USB device does not show as "MCE 2006 Transceivr", but with the PID/VID name in the Device Manager, ah well.
The driver installs, the USB and HID devices show that they are working properly, and pressing a button on the remote makes the red LED on the transceiver flicker.
And that is where I am stuck now. I started Girder and none of the plugins (tried MCE, HID, and some others) work for me.
Since this may still be a driver issue, I tried to install the alternative driver (mceir), but I cannot get that driver installed at all.
I am still evaluating Girder and figured it may be some application issue, so I tried the free competitor HIP, but that application crashes right away.
It all seems to come apart at the seams as soon as 64bit Windows comes into play. It really is odd that there is such a lack of 64bit support as most new systems have 64 bit processors and x64 OS are around for over four years.
So, is there any hope for my setup? Is there any way to make the MCE remote work on 64bit XP? All I want is switch the channels on Hauppauge's WinTV with the remote and maybe adjust the volume. Girder strikes me as the most promising approach, but how to get it to work?
And the 64bit Vista owners seem to be even worse off...
Update:
OK, there is one correction to the above, the remote is a version 1 remote, it looked quite similar to one of the V2 ones.
I also gave up on getting the remote to work on XP 64bit and installed a dual-boot with 32 bit XP. I now can get the remote to work with the Microsoft driver (after editing the .inf file to include the missing VID/PID), BUT I have that sticky key problem. Based on what I read, this is yet again a driver problem. It seems to be fairly common, but so far I haven't come across a solution (other than buy and install Media Center). Does anyone here have a good tip?

Hi,
I am not sure how much further you got since October 8th but I experienced the same problem you did after installing the driver from Microsoft's rollup package and adding my vid/pid. keys repeat indefinitely. I got it to work by downloading HIP, a competitor of girder and choosing the hipmce.dll from the setup wizard. I still had to re-map some common remote keypresses to match my apps keyboard controls, however... hip also has an interface to girder... Hope this helps
btw I am using Haupage WinTV USB2 as my TV tuner.

Hi !
I'm trying to use Girder 5 to control my Audio (Amp, Digital TV, DVD, LCD, etc). My goal is to use Netremote to do all of this. :D
For now I'm trying to learn the commands from all the remote's in to girder, but this will not work! In the "Add Remote Wizard" I have no problem what so ever to get commands from my original remote's in to Girder. The code's I get are like "149" (from Sony LCD-TV) & "31721" (Play button on MCE remote).
Girder is showing activaty in the left under corner. Left green light flashes yellow. Also the "Learn" button in the "Event Mapping Editor" works great. I case of the Sony Power button is says "Device 230" & "Eventstring 149"
BUT: when i want to add commands in the "IR Profile Editor" nothing happens. I hit "Learn" and nothing happens..... :( (I'm using the MCE reciever, My MCE Remote-plugin installed)
What am I doing wrong??? Anyone??

Thanks for the extreme fast reply! (Although is no good news...)
1) Will there be support for the MCE Blaster?
2) Will another version of Girder (4?) work?
The USB-UIRT is not for sale in the Netherlands.... :(
Is there an other device wich is suitable for this purpose??

I was also interested in a response to this. I currently am using girder 3 and the Replacement MCE Driver/plugin to control my Directv box. I would like to upgrade to girder 5 to gain access to the iphone control pages.
Is there a way to control equipment through the IR blaster of the MCE remote using girder 5? Would girder 4 support it if not 5?
Thanks!

I don't know where to go... I've searched the net - nothing.
Here's teh deal - I have a Adaptec AVC-3610 dual TV tuner. It has worked perfectly and I love it.
recently I had a C drive crash (have had many and always reinstalled this thing fine) this time - it runs and I get TV input, but the IR doesn't seem to work.
I tried installing it on my laptop (WORKS) on my desktop doesn't... Seems it can only be a driver? but what? where - tried reloading them.
The problem is in MCE when you go to train the setup program by entering 0,0 1,1,2,2,3,3... etc It doesn't respond to my button inputs. I know it's working (remote and hardware) as I said it works on my laptop.
the only difference would be drivers? any ideas how to fix this problem?
Also I can't get MSFT NET framework 2.0 to install - it errors part way through. (this is common I found on the net) and I wonder if they can be related?
