IR that works with Windows 2000

I'm happily using a RealMagic remote control with Win2k without any problems. Most (maybe all) of the serial based remotes just send text strings over the serial port so there is no need for a windows driver. However you may need to force windows to not detect the remote control receiver as a mouse.

Is UIR is the only IR works with Windows 2000?
If I build one myself, does it need a windows driver?
Or Girder will recognize it w/o windows driver?

Anyone can tell me which design is the most simple/cheap? Cuz I have no experience on PCB/soldering stuffs. :smile:
