It displays the title and song length stuff but not the artist

By the way, thanks so much for the update.

U made a great program better

you must have a 2 line display...

you can adjust anything you want, all the data is there.

however, you will need a basic understanding of lua and lcd master to do it.

look under screens/itunes.

as soon as I get rid of that stupid cold ( I hate early subzero temps ), I will install it on my HTPC in construction (and its 2-line LCD) to see what happens ;)

josh,

The best I can do is the info I gave above. lcd master is something we give away and only support when we can.

I understand wher you are coming from. But can you give me a hint where to go - the lcd lua file or the script for the itunes osd in girder.

I keep trying different things and I'm screwing up the program.

Can I send u a paypal payment for helping me?

I am destroying my lcd master program by making script edits in an attempt to get the artist on my lcd screen and the song duration and elapsed time off?

Hi.

I'm using LCDMaster 0.93 and the latest DVDSpy (.62 ?) and they are working well. I've edited my lcdmaster.lua file to the appropriate paths, got the Girder LCD driver plugin configured to the appropriate display (Parallel 2x16) or else I wouldn't be this far. EDIT - I'm using both of these with ZoomPlayer by the way; should've mentioned that.

My only issue is I'd like to *speed up* the text scrolling across the screen for long lines. I did find the "LCDMarqueeSpeed" setting in the LUA script and adjusted the value from 300 (msec) down to 50, but near as I can see this has had zero effect even after a reboot.

The RSS ticker data is just too slow. Is there anywhere in the LCDMaster GML file scripts this can be sped up?

Also, is there a way to force some other lines to scroll that won't? For examle when I load a DVD, I get a scrolling display of the DVD title. But then during playback later the first line of the display shows the title while the second line shows elapsed time, but the title no longer scrolls even if it is chopped off.

I did try to read through the FAQ and scan through as much of the script as I could in the GML file, so I hope I'm not missing something 'obvious', but as it seems the setting in the LUA file is supposed to control marquee speed but (near as I can tell) is not, I'm kind of stuck.

I think the command for setting marquee speed in broken. BUT, you can set this using regedit - check the lcd driver readme file on how to do this.

Then goto screens/rss screens. Open the script, look for the add property line that sets marquee mode, enter a 1 instead of a 0 for word mode.

Thanks; I'll check that out this evening.

Do you have to use 'word' mode for the faster scrolling? I like the per-character effect, just want them a bit faster is all. :)

EDIT: Altering the registry for the scrolling rate was the trick. Set at about 100msec is about the speed I wanted. Woriks fine even without swapping to 'word' rather than 'character' scroll mode.

Thanks again!!

Well, got the scrolling issue solved. Now after playing around with my Zoomplayer settings for some reason I can't get the elapsed/total time to display during DVD playback. I get just zeros under the title. If I hit stop I do briefly see the right zero become "STOPPED" (or similarly "PAUSED") but the times aren't updating.

I confirmed that I have NOT deactivated the external control interface setting in ZP, and my paths are all correct in the lcdmaster.lua file. If I try running the LUA script for the ZP screen setup directly I get a message "Zoomplayer, Unable to open Event Handler" or something like that.

Any idears what I managed to hose up?? I was really only playing with things like filter settings, bookmarking options, etc. and not touching LCDMaster at all....

Sounds like the luaevents plugin is not enabled. Goto file/setup/plugins and check this.

Mike:

All LUA plugins except the Volume handler show as enabled but 'not sending events'. The volume handler is enabled and sending events.

Should I try reinstalling them? There doesn't appear to be any settings I can alter: they're just checked or not, but they're showing up in a different highlight color (kind of bluegreen rather than green for fully enabled and sending plugins).

Mike:

Thanks for bearing with me. I've done a whole bunch of stuff and its now working.

I reinstalled LCDmaster and found I was having a problem with the scroll timing again. It would start out with the settings I had in the registry (about one char every 120 msec) then suddenly do full word jumps. I search around your LCDMaster scripts and eventually found something that seemed to be superceding the per-letter with a per-word setting default and changed it, and that got fixed again.

I'm not sure what the ZP reporting fix was but I'm pretty sure it was reinstalling. I tried the ZP 4.10beta, found I couldn't get any sound decoding with it (after also installing an AC3 decoder to go with it), then fought ZP audio and video DVD setup for a while (not being able to watch/hear DVDs is worse than not seeing an elapsed time display!!) and finally decided to go back to 4.03 after a complete de- and re-install. Then had to reinstall the Cineplayer codecs and restore my registry hack for FFDshow to be re-enabled. And now, lo and behold, the elapsed/total time duration from LCDMaster is working. There were a couple of reboots tossed in here and there for good measure too.

This is the most goshawful mess I've ever seen. (No insult intended...just seems VERY finicky!!!). No wonder people say HTPCs are a "love/hate" relationship. ;)

But thanks again for sticking with me and trying to help me out. At least I'm learning how to troubleshoot now, even if I have no clue what I'm doing as far as my own programming in Girder yet (still waiting for delivery of my remote to use with this puppy).

You can have problems installing changing things.... thats why some many htpc users are avid ghost/imaging fans. So as it works, ghost your harddrive so you have a back up. I have seen this problem with ZP. Something goes awry when you upgrade it.

However, once its working, all is well. My main htpc is running smoothly > 1 year. I rarely alter it.

Can you have your LCD act like a sorta-Ipod interface, using your remote to scroll through tracks and select them? or does LCD master merely show what's playing?

Promixis
November 16th, 2004, 04:40 PM
Yes, LCD Master does this with JRMC. You can completely control your pc without turning on the monitor.

I am having difficulty adding MBM to lcdmaster.lua. What is the screen object call for, say, the temp sensor 1? I tried coolmon but, for a tiny program, it sure sucks up resources. I have the MBM plugin and, I see the variables (mbmt1, for example) and girder is getting feeds from MBM. However I can't find the screen call for MBM. I see the MBM group in DVDspy but, after reading the directions, I can't see how I can use that to call from lcdmaster.lua. Thanks!

Promixis

I am not sure I ever built a MBM screen. You may need to copy one of the other screens and use it as a template. Something simple like the winamp screen should get you going.

Hi,

I Have a question about the A-Tech buttons, for the most part I have them working to my liking except for one thing, Play/Pause doesn't behave the way I think it should - it pauses songs in jrmc10 just fine but when I press it again it restarts the song from the beginning - am I missing something or is this normal?

August 15th, 2005, 03:52 PM
Hi, its been so long since I looked at that code I am not sure ;)

It was written for JRMC 9 and they might have changed that behaviour :(

Hi Mike,

I've determined that it isn't a JRMC10 issue, because if I change the play/pause button's action from Girder Manipulation Script LCDMenuAction (13) to Send Message (Message Number 33768 and wParameter 10000) it works as expected. The problem with this is that the button no longer works for other context sensistive menus. Any chance you could point me in the right direction of changing what LCDMenuAction (13) does with regards to JRMC? Your help would be greatly appreciated

Promixis
August 19th, 2005, 05:54 PM
Somewhere in the JRMC script you will find where the LCDMaster uses the JRMC COM object to control playback... It probably is under the menu section. Then open that script and see if you can find it..

I have my computer setup to hibernate when I hit the power button. When I wake the computer by hitting the power button again, the system restarts but LCDMaster displays the incorrect time. The weather initially shows up as expired and eventually refreshes, but the time never resyncs with the system clock. Is this something that can be fixed? Any hints would be appreciated.

I think I've found why the time wasn't updating on my 16 x 2 screen. In code below, I think the the second LCDScreenEasyModify line is trying to send the updated time to the third line of the 2-line screen. If I change the numbers to read "1,0,-1", the time updates properly. So if the first number is the line number, what are the other two numbers?

widman

function TimeDateUpdate ()
if LCDRows == 2 then
LCDScreenEasyModify ("TIME",0,0,-1,LCDCenterText(date ("%B").." "..date ("%d")..", "..date("%y")),0)
if LCDColumns <= 16 then
LCDScreenEasyModify ("TIME",2,0,0,LCDCenterText(date("%A").." "..date ("%I")..":"..date ("%M").." "..date ("%p")),0)
else
LCDScreenEasyModify ("TIME",1,0,-1,LCDCenterText(date("%A").." "..date ("%I")..":"..date ("%M")..":"..date("%S").." "..date ("%p")),0)
end
end

Pete, if I remember correctly, the 2 other numbers are for text positioning on that line.

I would really like my LCD to display iTunes information and Zoom Player information. I use G4 and if i understand correctly LCD Master is only for G3?

Is there a G4 compatible script that does this for me? Ive got my VFD working with the LCD plugin so i "only" need a script that displays the information on the display. Is there something out there that can do this for me?
