I cannot seem to get the remote to give me more than about 4-6 commands. When you push a button it sends a command and if you push it again it does a DIFFERENT one seemingly in a cycle. Each button sends the same commands in a cycle. I am using the serial port driver and I have tried several configurations. The remote got installed as a serial mouse. I think Logitech did it. I think that might be the problem. I am checking that now, does anyone have any other ideas?

Yes I think it's the mouse driver. I hope you guys can help, it sounds like some of you have had some luck with the X10 and the serial driver before but it sure isn't working for me. Now it's just jumping around the screen when I hit a button. Help!

Ok I got the mouse thing off by disabling enumeration in my system registry on com 1. However I still get repeating codes for the buttons. I think the plugin is giving Girder too many numbers. For example my volume and channel buttons are the same code. If you hit them more than once you get a different number. Any ideas? I'd hate to not be able to use my remote with XP.

Nevermind, I just found out that maX10 works just fine. If you have an X10 MouseRemote I suggest you grab it because it rules!

I seriously doubt that the Logitech drivers are to blame (innocent they aren't, I have stupid problems on resume from hibernate with my Cordless wheelmouse)
I bet X-10 software installation to recognize your mr26a as a mouse. After removing it in the device manager, you need to delete the driver inf file(s). They are $windir$infoem?.inf. Browse through them and see if there isn't an X-10 driver file telling windows to recognize it as a mouse.

even though I don't have the mouse remote, the 6in1 universal remote shares more than half of the same codes and uses the same serial RF receiver(mr26a). Using the generic serial driver works fine for me so I think your time would be better spent elsewhere in extending Girder.
Although it would be nice if you could use the same com port to do mouse remote and the firecracker. I suppose take the generic serial port driver and put in translation so commands looked like X10_CH+ instead of D5AAEE40AD and what not. And then merge it with the firecracker plugin? Who really can't spare a port (mr26a on one, cm17a on the other)? Just throwing ideas around.

oh, I wish I had more IRQs cuz some pci devices don't play well with others, i.e. SB Live! and my USB port

I was thinking of creating a new X10MouseRemote plugin that utilizes code from maX10 to grab the remote codes. Rather than having to install the X10 driver or maX10 you'd just use the plugin with a serial connection.
Is there any interest in getting this done or is everyone happy with what's currently available?

Try using maX10 to launch console.exe using the 'alternate starting method' option - this can give you full control over all things girder through the TCP/IP plugin.
